Woooooooooo Pig Soooiee! Unbelievable game. Was it luck, or has the Reggie Herring defense and the Gus Malzahn offense finally showed up. One word, wow!

That game was amazing. They just manhandled Ole Miss. What's really exciting is that our starting quarterback is a freshman, who has literally not experienced a loss since he started the second game of the season. What an amazing way to debut as a college quarterback!
He was the number one qb in the US last year, playing two perfect seasons in a row before graduating. What amazes me is the character of a young man who can somehow keep this up with all the mounting pressure and high expectations of him, and he doesn't seem to let it phase him because he has yet to choke.
We at the very least will get a bowl game this year. Imagine what the next four years will be like though! It's been since the 60's since we had a national championship, but I smell one coming in the next few years.
I'll just be really happy if we beat LSU this year. That's our big rival.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- No. 15 Arkansas can scratch one goal off its list. After missing the postseason the last two years, the Razorbacks are bowl eligible again.
They're also the only team with a perfect SEC record, so they hope this is just the beginning.
"Nothing like being bowl eligible, but we've got more things to accomplish," coach Houston Nutt said. "We're in the driver's seat in the SEC. We're the only team undefeated, so let's try to win the conference."
Felix Jones returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, and Arkansas defeated Mississippi 38-3 Saturday. The Razorbacks led 14-0 after the first 5:17 and were never seriously threatened.
Arkansas (6-1, 4-0 Southeastern Conference) lost its opener this year 50-14 to Southern California, but has bounced back well.
Jones was second in the nation with a 31.9-yard average on kickoff returns last year, but hadn't shown the same explosiveness on special teams this season.
"We've been saying for the last three weeks we were a block away," Nutt said.
Jones caught the opening kickoff against Mississippi (2-6, 1-4) and started upfield patiently, waiting for an opening. He then broke up the middle and untouched down the left side.
"I've got to let them set up and let them get into their blocks before I even can think about doing anything," Jones said. "Otherwise, I'm going to be by myself, and that's what I didn't want. I have to be patient and wait for the hole."
It was the second straight week Arkansas had started the game with a quick touchdown. Darren McFadden scored on a long run on the Razorbacks' first offensive play in a 63-7 win over Southeast Missouri State.
Arkansas also scored on its first offensive possession against Mississippi to lead 14-0. With the ball at the Rebel 4, McFadden lined up in a shotgun position while quarterback Mitch Mustain was out at wide receiver. McFadden took the snap and ran up the middle for a touchdown.
The Razorbacks ran a variation of that play several times -- including earlier that drive when McFadden took the snap and handed off to Jones.
"This was a little wrinkle that we put in," Nutt said. "Just kind of kept them off balance. I thought we made a couple good first downs and a touchdown with it."
Peyton Hillis scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter, and Arkansas led 21-3 at halftime.
McFadden, who entered as the SEC's leading rusher, was held to 65 yards rushing. He did score on a 70-yard reception late in the third quarter when he took a screen pass and raced past a few defenders down the left sideline.
That play was reviewed and upheld by the officials, then a scoreboard replay appeared to show McFadden's foot stepping on the sideline. Even though the play already had been upheld, the Arkansas fans let out a startled "Ohhhhh" when the play was shown. It was unclear whether the officials had access to that specific replay when they were reviewing the play.
Arkansas hasn't allowed 20 points in regulation since the loss to USC. BenJarvus Green-Ellis ran for 79 yards and Brent Schaeffer was 11-of-30 for 118 yards for Ole Miss. The Rebels lost at Alabama 26-23 in overtime last weekend, but coach Ed Orgeron said they weren't as ready to play against Arkansas.
"There is no way we had the same mental attitude we had against Alabama," he said. "This is the SEC and you have to be mentally prepared for every team."
Mustain, now 6-0 as a starter for Arkansas, had an efficient game throwing mostly short passes. The freshman went 12-of-15 for 157 yards.
"We did a good job executing," Mustain said. "I think that's what it came down to. Execution by everybody -- really made me look good out there." Casey Dick replaced Mustain in the fourth quarter and promptly threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to London Crawford.
I think we have a valid shot at going to the SEC title game this year. But lets just get past Louisiana Monroe first. Houston said it, "one game at a time", its an old cliche, but hey, I'll take it.

Well, at least they won again. Hard to believe that Mustain is so far undefeated as the starting qb. We're also the only team undefeated in the SEC. Looks like we will actually have a shot at the BCS.

If they beat Tennessee this weekend, then they probably move into the Top 10. That would also make for an exciting Thanksgiving matchup against LSU. I bet that would be a fun game to go to.
National Championship is shaping up to be a Big 10 vs Big East showdown.

You think so? I have a disturbing feeling that if the UM-OSU game is close, the computers will set up for a rematch in the title game, no matter what the Big East looks like.

Assuming that either WVA or Louisville goes undefeated, then my guess is one of them will leapfrog the loser of the OSU-Michigan game and take the #2 seed. Now, if Rutgers wins their games against Louisville and WVA, an interesting scenario could develop as it might be tough for a team to go into November ranked #15 and come out #2. As well, Texas could still be in the mix.

Tenn is a big one. I don't really have too much expectation of that happening. They killed us last year (as did just about everyone else). I'm just hoping that whatever magic seems to surround Mustain's arrival on this team will somehow carry them. They did give Auburn a sound trouncing. That was no accident. If they can play like that against the Vols then it will be an interesting bowl series indeed.

If OSU is the team that loses that game, especially if it's close, I think that they have enough respect to not drop below second. And the Big East also has to deal with the little brother syndrome.

It's a home game for OSU, though. My feeling is that a loss places them behind an undefeated team from another major conference. And I doubt that Michigan could hold on to #2 with a loss, especially if they lose by a wider margin than Texas lost to OSU.

Right. I think Michigan is done if they lose, but OSU is the question mark.
If L'ville wins Thursday, I hope people mention how good this team would be if they still had Michael Bush. Scary.

I have been reading your thread, and I pretty much agree with the Ohio State Michigan item. It hink Ninja is right and if the game is close ie last second field goal or OT that they will stay 1 & 2 no matter what happends in the Big East. The lack of schedulde strength that they have will kill them. I am probably in the manority that thinks the Big East is overrated. Somebody from there will probably end up undefeated without having to play anybody. They will not have to prove themselves until it is to late and they have take somebody who is truely goods place in a BCS bowl game. If I had to choose I would hope L'ville wins beacuse at least they beat Miami, which now in hind site isn't that big of a win. West Virginia in my humble opinion has not plaing anybody.
Right now I think Arkansas is overrated also. They are living off the knee jerk reaction to them beating Auburn. I have seen them play every home game this year except USC. I thought Auburn had a bad day and Arkansas had a good day for that upset, but South Carolina showed Arkansas the seceret to Auburn the week before. I will be more of a beliver in them if they come out of the next 3 games 2 &1. I think they will ber lucky to be 1 & 2 and proably will go 0-3. They may beat South Carloina, but I think Tenn & LSU will show Mitch what the upper half of the SEC looks like, beacuse all he has seen is the lower half.
I would like to see the OSU & Michigan game be close and then see a re-match for the championship. It think if it is Big Ten against Big East then there will only be one true Big conference playing and that will be the Big Ten.
I don't see Rutgers being in a championship game even if they go undefeated.
WV or Louisville i think would be. But, i also think both teams will lose before the end of the season.
Mich/OSU game will determine who will make it to the championship. I don't think the loser will make it.
Assuming WV and Louisville lose, texas will probably sneak into the number 2 spot. But, i also see them losing one more this year, and dropping further in the poll. Florida's in number 4 now, but i can see them losing again this year. they only won by one TD last game. Plus, texas only plays a 21 ranked team before the end of the year, and doesn't give them much chance to move up the polls
ND has an outside chance in being in the number 2 spot by the end of the year, but unfortunately for them because USC lost already, the strength of the win that they would get if they were to beat them in the final game is diminished. A large number of factors will have to play out for them to make it in there. For one, Michigan will have to beat OSU. This will increase their ranking because ND's only loss will be Michigan... assuming they don't lose another game.
If you look at the point total for the BSC placing, there is a huge difference between the number 2 and number 3 place. .9697 for Michigan, and .7862 for west virginia.
I am siked about the next 4 weeks of football. Some great games left! I think Arkansas will beat SC, MS St, and LSU, but I don't think they will beat Tennessee. It will be close, but I think Tennessee will get us. However, I do believe that we will be playing for the SEC title in a close loss to possibly Florida, but who knows. I haven't checked what the rest of their conference games look like, but they have played all the tough teams I can think of.
In my opinion, if we lose 2 times, Auburn wins out and wins the SEC title, they will be play the winner of OSU/Mich game. But who knows. I have to agree that ND chances are hurt with the USC loss, but the computers like ND for some reason so who knows. All in all though I don't think anyone in the Big East deserves a title shot. Maybe WV if they stay undefeated, but I don't think that will happen. We will see and I can't wait.

I agree with you guys, we have some crazy weeks of football ahead, I just hope it works itself out that we have a good Championship game.
I don't think Texas will have much trouble winning out. I am not sure the Big 12 North can stop them in the Championship game. I don't think ND has much chance of making to the BCS Championship either. I think USC will be wanting to make a statement with the ND game and will pound them. If feel the same way about the Arkansas games, with them being ranked so high SC, Tenn, & LSU are going to be coming in very pumped up to make a statement and I am not sure Arkansas will be able to handle it.
It is going to be big fun to see how it all plays out.
It wasn't pretty, but it was a victory! Hogs are 8-1, 5-0 in the conference! Yeah baby!
Their last two games are going to be really tough, but even if they lose them both, it's been a great season.
This game really did come down to coaching strategy. If played more like a chess game than an athletic event. I was really getting worried in that last quarter. Why didn't they start Mustain this time?
We also had a few injuries of some of our best players. One of them was probably season ending. Rough sport on these kids!

JJ, you celebrating in Kuwait tonight?
What's the word on Mustain? Will he start next week?

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but what happens if Arkansas wins their remaining games (this would include beating Tenn, LSU, and likely Florida) and Louisville loses against Rutgers? That would give them 12 straight wins after an opening day thrashing against USC. Would they have a shot at the OSU-Michigan winner? Of course, I consider this scenario highly doubtful, but you never know.
If Louisville stays undefeated, I'm willing to bet that they get the nod in the National Championship game against the OSU-Mich winner.

I hope you are correct, but if sportswriters like Jason Whitlock-- who ranked L'ville #9 today-- keep voting the way they have, I'm afraid they may get screwed.

They may get screwed, but we'll never get to see Louisville play a team with a legit defense, except for Rutgers. I think a lot is riding on this Rutgers game in order for Louisville to prove itself against a good defensive team. Whitlock said that he believed there were 4 teams in the SEC would could beat Louisville. We'll never really know if that's true or not, but he's entitled to that thought, as I also think that there are a few teams who have a loss or two who could still beat Louisville.

And there probably are... but if a team from a BCS conference ends the season as one of only two undefeated teams, there should be no way in hell that it doesn't make the title game.

Oh yeah, got up at 3 am just to watch the game at 3:45. Great game, looked like we were gonna open a can for a while, but then their back-up QB came in and gave our secondary a lashing. Well, it was ugly, one of our safeties is likely out for the season, Mustain is on the bench, Dick is taking the reigns, and I haven't heard how McFadden is doing after the horse collar tackle but we won. Tennessee did have their starting RB arrested sunday morning along with 2 of their defensive back-ups. Can't wait for the game this weekend. Gonna be a big test.
