I'm really surprised that the insurers allows these guys to ride at all during their career. Jay Williams, formerly of the Bulls, would be a cautionary tale to any young athlete on the verge of superstardom, I would think. I;m sure part of what makes them great is their risk taking, but I would think they could be more mature about it. I remember tennis great Ivan Lendl loved to ski, but he just didn't do it during his career. As he said then, they'll be plenty of time after he was done with professional sports. It's not like they have to wait until they're 65 to retire.
Yeah, it would seem so. I saw another article where Ben said 'I'm the safest driver I can be' when on a motorcycle. Unfortunately, that doesn't account for what other people do in front of you. I guess we'll have to wait to see the extent of his injuries.

It's both funny and sad to ride from North Carolina (mandatory helmet law) into South Carolina (no helmet law), and see bikes pulled to the side of the road just over the state line so the riders can take off their helmets. It's their choice. I choose to ride with a helmet, period. Just hoping the gene pool thins out a bit

ESPN Radio mentioned a few times yesterday that Bill Cowher and Terry Bradshaw both tried to convince him to wear a helmet while he rides. His arguement was that Pennsylvania reversed the helmet law a few years ago for a reason.
They showed him in an interview talk about cruising on his Harley and not going fast like on a sport bike. The wrecked one I saw yesterday on the news was definately a sport bike and not a chopper.
