Default Stanley Cup Final Begins Tonight!!!

Tonight the Cup final begins. It should be a great series with a great deal of scoring, hits, and speed.

I believe Edmonton will take it in 6....though I wouldn't be surprised if Carolina wins.

It started tonight and also ended tonight. Roloson is out for the series.

Very sad to see an injury like that happen. A real heartbreaker.

And the injury was the result of what I feel was a moronic play by Marc-Andre Bergeron, pushing Ladd into Roloson. The hit served no purpose in terms of preventing a goal, and was clearly a risky play as Ladd was headed towards the net.

Agreed but a heartbreaker none the less.

I told some friends that the break was not good for them. Carolina had been playing constantly and would continue though the final. Oilers came out well but dropped off in the second and thirds. Let's hope that Conklin can step it up and give them the win.

Yes and no. It looks like that is the average score for this series.

Ah, when Edmonton rolls over them all will be better I think that 9 days off took the spark out of them. They played like shit last night. They can't get anything going and all they seem to do is dump it in or dump it flip it out of their own end. Oh and they have to stay out of the box, Jussi only let in one soft one.

What are you smoking? And where can I get some? 2 more games and it's over. I wanted to see Edmonton win it but when they lost the reason they got there, it was over

You can only hope they bounce back. If you watched the game you would see that the best player is Pronger, and that isn't saying much I remember watching him in Peterborough with the Pete's, along with Recci, Lindros, Braithwaite, Cullimore, etc. Seems just like yesterday but it was long ago.

I remember seeing the Whalers play, along with the Colorado Rockies and the old King's colours. I still have a Jet's jersey and a signed Teemo hat.

I might get to see another NHL game. Oilers and Coyotes are playing in Sept here, but it will be a big fight for tix when they come out as the the season ticket holders get first shot.

Nice. Not only will you get to see a hockey game but you might see Wayne and Janet Betsky....

It's too bad they took the franchise from your city, it doesn't belong in Phoenix.

I mostly want to go to let my son see the game. But the tix are $100 each for the lower bowl and $35 for the upper, so I might get the uppers. No way I am paying $200 for 2 tix, especially when most big names won't be there.

I think the Oilers finally got back into the groove after that 9 day break between series.

Yup they finally started to hit bodies and win face offs...htey had much more jump last night...the deciding factor was the Peca line...they steped up and provided three goals and a lots of pressure deep...

On Pisani's winner he had the opportunity to crush Staal as he reached for the pass...but he took the puck instead....I would have run Staal over then picked up the puck.

If he would have hit Staal he wouldn't have that free run to the net.

If they were up in the series I'd make that hit to send the message...where he was on the ice too...it may have ended his season...but I guess the "W" is a good message as well.

They are sending the message. One was off most of the game, another took a shot in the foot and Weight had to leave for a while and I don't know if he even went back on the ice after coming back to the bench.

I think I read somewhere that Weight didn't appear on the ice after the incident. He was on the bench though, maybe just waiting to hoist the Cup if Carolina had scored.

Rexall Placewill be going bananas on Saturday night. Should be fun!

Carolina is a better skilled team, but the Oilers are more of a grinding team. I think it will be an interesting 7 game series now that Edmonton seems to be back into it.

Carolina looke tired tonight. Edmonton absolutely dominated the game. I don't think they lost a battle for the puck all night. Carolina will have to find some energy if they hope to even challenge Edmonton Monday.

It looks like Edmonton's long rest before this series is finally starting to pay off. Of course, it doesn't help when Hedican gets two roughing penalties in the first 10:00 of the game. Puts on a lot of pressure (and saps a lot of energy) early in the game.

I think after the way this series has unfolded, the Cup is Edmonton's to lose.

The hockey gods are watching over them now.
