It's a controversial move, but definitely a good call for the Toronto Argonauts. Williams will have a huge season in the CFL if he takes it seriously. If he takes it too lightly, he'll realise quickly that there are some very good players who are good enough for the NFL, but get bumped by younger guys for salary cap reasons.
He seems reasonably bright to me in some of the interviews I've heard, but he's more of a free spirit than the average ballplayer. Makes me question his desire to win and to be the best he can be (at his best, he's clearly one of the best RB's in the game).
I haven't gone to any Argos games since I moved here a few years ago, but I'm planning to go this year.
Ricky has a social anxiety disorder. According to him he turned to "weed" in an effort to overcome it. I have an acquaintance who also suffers from a social aniexty disorder, but much more severely. I have seem first hand the torment and pain that the disorder can cause. Personally, if he needs to smoke some of that stuff to function properly and feel good about himself, I have no problem with it.
That said, he has been tested 10 times a month for the past year and has only come up positive once, which the Fins and Ricky believe is attributable to some sort of urbal tea. Furthermore, is Mary-J really performance enhancing? I'd be willing to bet 40-50% of the popualtion of Canada and the U.S. has smoked the stuff at some point. Also, it's legal in some countries and will be soon here in Canada once the Conservatives are knocked off eventually.
The man is well spoken and certainly comes across as a genuinely good natured person. I have absolutely no problem with him coming to Toronto to play.
I think I read somewhere that the CFL is going to close the loophole that allows suspended NFL players to play in the CFL. Does that hurt or help the CFL?

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
I think having the NFL guys boosts awareness and interest in the CFL. I don't care really, they don't have a drug test policy in the CFL either. If they are willing to take the huge paycut to play, let them.
I am sure they will introduce them to the CFL Ricky said that he has to get use to the CFL. It passes more with less running, so they want to see how he can change to lots of blocking and running for passes.

I have read that too. My guess is that the CFL brass is feeling pressure from their NFL counterparts to do so.
It would not hurt the CFL a great deal, as it affects only a handful of players. It just happens that this season, it's a couple of big names.
Mabey getting up to the north country will help him un-ass his head. He's got some tough breaks being a quality back on some questionible teams. But that doesn't excuse his disreguard for the rules. If he wasn't so damn good he'd be pumping gas somewhere. No team would put up with his crap if he was a 3rd stringer.
dammit dammit dammit ricky. As a fin fan i was all for this cla nonsense to keep him in shape but dammit dammit dammit. You better be training hard ronnie brown.

He wasn't playing anyway. He got an injury, yeah, he may not be able to stay in shape, but I sure don't think his availability for next season is compromised

They're expecting him to be back for the middle of this season , actually. I may be able to find out more about the nature of his injury.
