Default NBA MVP

Yesterday, news leaked that Steve Nash will win the MVP again. Does anyone else find this ridiculous?

It's a victory for white people everywhere!!!!

I support it. I went, "what? Again?" but after I thought about it, he kept that team afloat. If it was Nash and not Stoudemire that went down, definitely not where they are right now. In the playoffs? Sure. But higher than a 7? Maybe not.

I personally think Kobe got jobbed. This is from someone who dislikes Kobe a lot, but I guess there's a thin line between most valuable (for your team) and best.

With Kobe the Lakers are a 7 seed. Without Kobe the Lakers win maybe 20 games.

Is that more valuable than a team that would be a 7 without their point guard and a 2 with him but without one of the best power forwards in the league? I guess that means more to the voters.

I agree with Keith.

I think that while Nash is good, a lot of his production comes from D'Antoni's system. If you haven't noticed, Barbosa puts up great numbers when he runs the point, as well.

I would have picked Kobe. I don't even think Nash is the best at his position, let alone the MVP. I'd take Billups or Kidd ahead of Nash at the point because they're bigger and they defend. Nash's defense has actually gotten worse the last few years.

Yeah, I would definately take "Mr. Big Shot" or J. Kidd (most career triple doubles [if im not mistaken]).

I wonder if Kobe would've had 2 80 point games if he would've been MVP, I mean we all know he had a chance to do it...

I can make a case for Kobe as well as King James, but...... The most valuable player to a team that actually has a legit shot at going deep into the playoffs? Nash is your man. After Amare went down, Nash stepped up and put the team on his shoulders.
I'm NOT a Nash fan. I'm also NOT a Kobe fan. But Kobe really doesnt make the players around him better like Nash does. - Caveat - ok so Kobe is doing a little better in the playoffs in this category.

I do think that you will see King James and the Cavs in the same light as Michael and the Bulls some day. James is just scary good. I really didn't think he'd do much when he hit the big leagues but he proved me wrong. If he hits the weights and as he matures and gets smarter....? Look out.
Funny thing, I don't particularly care for James either but I respect talent.

In any case, I guess if I had a vote in the MVP this year, I would have given it to Nash too.

Other thoughts?

The way Kobe and the Lakers are playing in the playoffs, I'd have to give the trophy to Kobe. I'm a Nets fan and would love to see Kidd be recognized as the best point guard in the league, but Kobe carried the Lakers into the playoffs and yes, the rest of the team has finally stepped up and they're playing well as a team. Nash had two plays today that ended up costing them the game. Both times, Kobe nailed the bucket to first send the game into OT and then win it.

Wow. I didn't catch any games today until the Spurs right now. I just saw hightlights of Kobe's shot. That's very Jordan-esque.

BTW - what the hell is with Bibby play'n out of his ass tonight? Sheeesh.

I have to agree with both comments! Nobody's mention Nowitzki for Dallas...? I don't know why anyone mentioned him to begin with but I thought I'd heard his name tossed around.

1 Kobe
2 Dirk
3 Chauncey
4 LeBron
5 Nash

Definately steve Nash. He lost four starters from last season's team and they still won fifty games.........

How did D Wade not make it in the top five? He is the 5th leading scorer, and is top ten in just about every otehr category. 6 in steals, 9 in feild goals made, 4rth in free throws, 10th in assists per game, and i could go on. With shaq mising how many games and not showing up physically and domenantly Wade carried the team, a team of Veterans who have been in leage since Wade was a lil boy n this is his third season. Without Wade heat barely make it to the playoffs let alone take 2nd seed and as i predected months ago are guna take detriot and the title. Without wade no conference title and he gives them a legit shot at the title. Last night he only played 27 mintues and still scored 25 had 5 assists 2 steals hled the win at the end of the game, missed only 2 shots and made 25 points on 11 shots. Here is your real mvp. And unlike lebron wade would gladely give the ball up before going 6 for 24 in a game 7. Ill be about 24 rows up from the heat bench sat screaming for the real mvp and the first of his years to grab a ring. Think about it, if the heat lost d wade this year to injury you think shaq would of led this team this far.
