This is an article by a Dr. that I correspond with. He runs an adventure racing report website: Race Reports. The article gets into some good ways to use heart rate monitors to measure and improve your performance in events like running.

That's pretty cool. Talk about motivation, much like keeping a lifting journal. Now, where can I get one of those nifty little graphing programs?

Which monitor do you have? My Suunto can do it and I know some of the better polars can. I think the Garmin Forerunner 301 can.

Ah, so it's proprietary to the HRM itself. Kaiser turned me on to the Polar M32 as a good beginner's HRM, and it hasn't steered me wrong. I was thinking of a program independent of the HRM that I could just plug data into, but I'm not about to setup an Access database. I'll see if I can monkey around with Excel and get that to work.

Default Bios Fitness

I would suggest the Bios Fitness HRMs, they have a lot of features in even their basic models. You can find it in London Drugs. My friend's a personal trainer and he helped me pick it out.

I have a timex body link that I use. Although I don't use the HRM much anymore.

I just bought a basic Polar HRM and it's great. I was torn between this one (basic - Zones, Calories Burned, and HR %) and the one up from this with distance and pace (uses a foot pod), but I decided to be cheap and get this and just use Google Maps. I like mine a lot though!

Did you know I burn 27 calories walking to the store behind my apt. and 682 in 1 hr 44 minutes of downhill skiing? I wear it everywhere.

Do you guys know what your LT is? Have you determined what your training zones are for each discipline?

Duffey, this calculator is pretty good for giving you training zones:

http://www.mcmillanrunning.com/Runni...calculator.htm

Also, Google for VDOT - that should bring up some other sites that will be helpful as far as appropriate training paces.
