Word has reached the cycling community that the portion of the River trail on the LR side that runs from the dead end road past the I-430 bridge, across the creek bridge and down to the Murray Lock and Dam is the target of a few individuals that want the road to go all the way through for the benefit of vehicular traffic.

In 1997 LR voters decided that this road was to forever be a trail never open to vehicle traffic again.

I know the cycling community enjoys the safe and recreational opportunities that this whole river trail affords. The pedestrian bridge may be complete within a year and the river trail will make its way to Pinnacle in the near future.

Motorized traffic on this section of the trail will squeeze out the walkers, runners and cyclists.

Advocacy groups for the running community need to be sure and speak up.

I heard about this. I'm probably going to that meeting. If they open that road all the way through the traffic would be tremendous as motorists try to skirt the lights on Cantrell. Use the money to put in bike lanes to West Little Rock to allow bikes to get downtown easily.
