I have a bunch of form and technical questions:
first, can anyone differentiate A/B/C skips?

also, what is bungee resistance training?

if I should post in weight training, say the word...

Now see, I don't have a clue what those are. Maybe under a different name. Hopefully Gobbla or BamaDave can help you out. If you don't hear from them soon PM them.

Joe

Nice to see you back in here!

How is it going Dana, I haven't seen you in a while? How was your half marathon?

Bungee training, I am assuming you are talking about running against resistance, can also be usead as assistance - these are done for pure speed training. They can be done solo or with a partner. With a partner, either you pull him along for resistance or he pulls you along for overspeed training. Solo, you attach a long bungee to an anchor(tree) and run away, for overspeed stretch it and run towards the anchor. Quick release belts can be used immedetly drop the resistance and get to full speed fast. Bungee resistance training is similar in application to running with a sled or a parachute, they are used for improving maximal speed. There probably isn't much advantage to a distance runner.

Skips are mostly done to improve form, but they also have a plyometric training affect.

"A skips" are just exagerated skips where you drive the knees very high and raise the toes of the lead leg up, keeping propper upper body form and timing.

"B skips" are like "A skips" but you extend the lower leg while the knee is raised and focus on pawing down at the ground.

"C skips" have a high knee lift, but your heel should pull up to your glutes. The knee should be in a similar position to the the "A skip"

(NOTE: some people have different definitions of the skips - this is the most common that I have seen, and what I use.)

Do you plan on incorporating these exercises into your training? Does it come from a training plan? Is that plan tailored towards your needs/goals?

Hi All-
thanks for your feedback (even when you didn't know what I was talking about!

yes, my 1/2 has come and gone...getting ready for my next... I'll take this and post it elsewhere.

regarding the training, it was part of what I was looking to do to increase my time (which I also may post elsewhere, to pull it out of this thread) which is an ongoing struggle for me...

it's good to be back, though, this forum, even when it's slow, is helpful and highly motivational.
