On the heels of my 100 mile mountain bike race I've decided that in October of 2005 I would like to do an ultra-marathon. We have a 100 miler right in our own backyard (out where I mtb train a lot). This is a big step since I've never done a marathon but I'm taking it slow giving myself a year and a half to get ready.

I figure that I will first train for the Little Rock marathon in March '05 and If all goes well be ready for the 100 miler in October.

Anybody have any advice for me other than checking myself into one of those "special" homes?

A guy who I bike with just finished the Death Race. One thing he told me, was practise running at night. Do a normal day, but instead of going to bed, go for a long ass run deep into the night. Then sleep in longer to make up for it.
