OKLAHOMA'S ULTIMATE CHALLENGE: WORLD'S HIGHEST HILL 5-MILER



RACE DATE: Saturday, May 22, 2004



COURSE and LOCATION: 5-Mile starting point to finish line course up

Cavanal Hill, the proclaimed World's Highest Hill in Poteau, Oklahoma. The

1,999-foot steep ascent overlooks breathtaking views of the surrounding

scenery. This Race is a great way to train future races. Be one of the

first to conquer 'The Hill'.

Poteau is located 30 miles south of I-40 just 45 minutes west of Fort

Smith, Arkansas and is nestled at the foothills of the Ouachita Mountain

Range.

Starting Point is at the corner of Witteville Road and Hughes Drive.

Plenty of nearby parking available at the Prmary School. Transportation

Will be provided back to the parking lot from the top of Cavanal after the

Race.

Individual/Team Walkers wanting to conquer the Hill are also welcome.



TIME: Race begins at 9am. A 3-hour time limit has been set. This is

basically a 35-minute per mile pace. Rain or shine (except in the case of

lightning). This race is great for all walkers and runners.



AWARDS: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place awards for Overall Male and Female; Standard

Age Group Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placers; Fastest Team Awards (3

person Team members). Team Finishers Award for team with the most

finishers



AID: Water, Fluid Replacement at all checkpoint stations. Certified

Sports Medicine Practitioner on hand at Finish Line as well as medical personnel and first responders at the checkpoint stations. Fully equipped First Aid stations at mile 1.5 and mile 3.



BENEFITS: Profits will benefit Leflore County Special Olympians to attend

their State Meet. This non-profit organization provides year-round sports

training and competitions to over 250 area individuals with mental

retardation and other disabilities. The organization pays the fees and

expenses of the State Games for over 150 athletes costing approx. $10,000.



LODGING AND ANTEMINITIES: A packet is available with discounted coupons

exclusively for the runners and their families from local hotels,

restaurants and shopping. There is a lot for families members to do

during the Run.

I know that running a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I

should not enter unless I am medially able and properly trained. I also

know that there will be a possibility of traffic on the course. I assume

the risk of running in traffic. I also assume any and all other risks

associated with running this event including but not limited to, falls,

contact with other participants, the effects of the weather and the

conditions of the roads, all such risks being known and appreciated by me.

Furthermore, I agree to yield to all emergency vehicles. I also am fully

aware that baby strollers and wheels of any kind (except competitive

wheelchairs), animals and head phones re strictly prohibited and I agree

not to have them on the course. Knowing these facts, and in consideration of

your accepting my entry, I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors,

administrators or anyone else who might claim on my behalf, covenant not

to sue, and waive and release and discharge any and all race sponsors, race

officials, volunteers, local and state police including any and all of

their agents, employees assigned or anyone acting for or on their behalf from

any and all claims or liability for death, personal injury or property damage

of any kind or nature whatsoever arising out of, or in the course of, my

participating in this event whether same be caused by negligence or fault.

This release and waiver extends to all claims of every kind or nature

whatsoever, foreseen or unforeseen, know or unknown. The undersigned

grants permission to sponsors or agents authorized by them to use any photos,

video tapes, motion pictures, or any other record of this event for any purpose.

Minors accepted only with a parent or guardian's signature.
