Default How Long to Wait

I was running Sunday and hurt something in my left foot. It originally started as a sharp pain that ran laterally on the outside of my foot, but now seems to be a little close to the heel. Since Sunday it constantly hurts whenever I put pressure on it.

I figured it would go away after a day or so, but hasn't. I'd rather not waste my time getting x-rays and whatnot if I don't have to, but I also want to be able to get back to running ASAP. How long do you normally wait to go to the doctor for something like this.

Check out the injury articles on runnersworld.com - they might have better advice than your doctor who might just say "stop running."

Rest it, ice it, elevate it. For at least week. If more than a week and it still hurts a lot, then I'd go to the doctor. I would also check for inflammation, a bump, swelling, etc. There are good articles to figure out if it's a tendon/muscle/stress fracture related on sites like Runnersworld.

Phyio. And go sooner rather than later. They can fix you up quickly. No point waiting a week then going, you've just delayed your recovery time for no reason.

If you cars wheels are out of alignment then leaving it in the garage for a week won't fix the alignment.
