Question running and strength training??

I am currently training for a 1/2 marathon...actually I will be training back to back. I'm training for a 1/2 in Novemeber then I will start training for another one in Feb. I train for about 12 weeks. Right now I'm running 4x/week. I haven't been doing any strength training since I started my training...I'm looking for ideas on how to add strength in with my workouts.

I run Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat...I only have about an hour to workout in the mornings. So...I need something quick/effective on Tues/Thurs....

any ideas????

You might find more help in the gym in the Training Forum, but others around here do primarily run and secondarily lift. As a quick-and-dirty suggestion, you might try New Rules of Lifting (for men or women) two days per week instead of the suggested three or four. Timing will be more important than getting a cookie-cutter program, though, so if absolutely nothing else, stick to the core lifts split between the two lifting days. All told, your workouts shouldn't go more than an hour.

I am also running ~4 days a week and lifting 2 days. I stuck with NROLW, but scaled back to 2 days rather than the 3 I was doing before. I feel like I am handling it ok so far and I was able to increase mileage without feeling any aches and pains.

I read a thread a while back where Lisa~ provided a link to another Cosgrove plan called the Holiday Plan: "Undulating periodization for in-season athletes and holiday-season regular guys"
Here: T-Nation.com | The Holiday Program I'm still deciding on whether I want to switch to that for the rest of my HM training or stick with NROLW...

Good luck with your training!
