Just wondering what recovery methods people use routinely to reduce the pain post run.
After a run I'm sore for days so am currently only running once a week. Faster sessions result in more pain. Not just DOM's pain but more a joint pain.
Do you do recovery sessions straight away post run or next day or what.
Just trying to get some idea's of what people actually do.
Muscle pain is one thing. Joint pain is (almost) entirely another. If possible, post video of your running stride and some specs on your shoes, plus anything else anecdotal.

I haven't been doing any foam rolling recently but have been stretching a bit. Have been meaning to get proper shoes but have been waiting until these ones wear out more.
I went for a run saturday and a ride on sunday so today I'm actually pretty good.
My foot supinates so I guess I should look into proper fitted shoes sooner rather than later.
Big fan of foam rolling and ice baths. You have to stretch a lot, too.

buy new shoes. don't wait until yours "wear out more." When my knees kill after a run, I know i need to buy shoes NOW, not in a few weeks. I ended up in physical therapy because I went too long between shoe purchases...
Got fitted and bought proper shoes yesterday. Tried them out with a speed session which normally causes the most pain, but today felt significantly less pain and will run again tomorrow or tuesday.
Also rode for 10min on stationary bike as a warm down and have increased my foam rolling work.
My old shoes were exactly wrong for my foot. Time for an official burial.
Just an update. Shoes have made all the difference. Able to run more frequently with no pain following. Have done longer runs then before and faster runs then before. Feel on top of the world.
