Default Bolder Boulder 2K8

Just finished my 5K Bolder Boulder qualifier - 20:33. Felt fairly good, especially since I did a 40 mile bike ride last night with a 6.5 mile, GOOD hard climb. Legs are getting a well deserved rest of the day off.

Great Job, and I am betting that wasn't a flat run either.

It rolled a little bit, but there weren't too many hills.

I'm signing up for the Bolder Boulder today. The qualifier got me into the 3rd wave, and that wave predicts a 43:05 10K I did 5 miles of speed work this morning, and finished a 5 mile run in about 36 minutes, so tack on another 1.2 miles, and I'm going to be super stoked if I can finish in 46 minutes on Monday. There is a BIG hill at about 5 1/2 miles that usually just wipes everyone out, so I'm going to try and hold a steady, doable pace until about mile 4, then just hammer it home, and do my best to puke at the top of the hill

On a way cooler note, Ryan Hall and Deena Castor are running on Monday for the US. Not sure if anyone has ever really followed the Bolder Boulder, but the pro race is really cool. Each country that wants to race gets 3 representatives, and then there is an overall winner and team winner. There is a lot of strategy involved, as often times the countries will work together - which is a far cry from many of the races where it's every man for himself.

Thought about you when I saw a guy in Little Rock (of all places) wearing a Bolder Boulder Tshirt. Good job man.

Perfect day for running. Cloudy, right about 53 degrees, little rain last night. It was perfect. Everything felt great, nutrition good, legs - ok...., head - clear. Met a really cool Iron-couple at the start line, the guy did IM Wisco, the girl did Couer d'Alene, Wisco, and Kona. Wow. Hung with him most of the run, then dropped the hammer. End result, 42:43 unofficially - results aren't up yet. I'll get a better report up later today, but all is well. I'm gunna go ride bikes, then BBQ and watch baseball.

Happy Memorial Day all!
