Default sprinting as a senior

The younger guys at my gym tease (nicely) about my sprinting on our indoor track. I'm 68. So I went on line to check how people my age were doing. My indoor track is about 115 meters, and my normal fast time is 18-17 seconds, and best time 14. When I checked I discovered that I am doing pretty well. What's involved with competetive sprinting in age brackets? I am assuming that our track really is 14 laps to a mile, which may not be accurate. But if I weren't going around corners would I be faster, and if I weren't doing 14 reps how could I drop my time?
