I have an almost-iron stomach, so I eat a lot before longer races (1/2-M and longer). Sometimes 1,000 to 1,200 calories. Oatmeal, peanut butter and banana sandwiches, etc.
Post-race I eat whatever I can. Lots of carbs and hopefully some protein.
My running buddy just told me that she will only participate in races that involve beer, Pre, Post or During. Which means we will only be running in 4 races this year.
My favorite post race is plenty of water followed later in the day by Pizza.

Pre race - WW english muffin with PB, banana, sip on some Gatorade, and about 10 minutes before the start, an Espresso Love Gu - that is my superstition, can't race without one. For longer races, I'll double up on the WW english muffin with PB and banana.
Post race - a homemade burger on WW bun, with all the veggies and an ear of corn. And a few 90 Shillings. Yum. Sometimes, I'll have homemade pizza, but usually I'm grilling with my friends...
