Those look like some good drills, silly-looking or not. I remember my track coach in high school used to make us run holding a potato chip in each hand to get us to relax our arms. Now that was silly, but effective.

I've run with chips too. I like that drill, and still have to do that every now and then. Calm hands lead to calm face which leads to calm body. I like that drill.

i am still kind of new to running so these drills are perfect for me. i did them last night and i increased my speed dramatically and my knees didnt hurt as much as usual. but my calves are so sore today. i feel like i have a knot in my left calf. but my respiration was way better, my heart rate wasn't as high, it felt so much more comfortable to run with better form. i am a slow runner and even with speeding up i was slow but it was astep in the right direction (or rather lots and lots of steps hehe) so thats good.

anyone know anyother runninng drills that could help. i am starting to really dig this whole running thing. never in a million years did i think i would say that.

If you want more on running techniques there is no better place then to have a peek at the form-obsessed POSE runners. You need to register to view the videos on the first link in this forum, but it's free and there are lots of drills.

Edit: I'll also add, that moving to a shoe with little, if any support, will give you a ton of feedback on your form. Typical running shoes mask a lot of what is going on between your foot and the ground.
