Default Marathon in fall..lifting..?

Hi, I am new to this forum. 38 female. I started running in late December. From 0.. Right now I am up to 1 1/2 miles with little discomfort at all. Just taking it slow. I run a 10 min mile right now. My goal is to run 5 miles at a time by end of April. Then I am going on vacation for a while. When I get back I would like to try training for a 1/2 marathon. The marathon is in October 08. I have the non-runners guide to marathon and it has helped alot.
I also just got NRL4W, and started it today!
I also do yoga (more aerobic style than meditative).
What do you all think?
I Run 4 days a week. T,W, TH, Sun
Lift M, W, F
Fit yoga in when I can generally on M,T,W,

What do we think of what?
Your plan? Does it support your goal?

If your goal is to be in a marathon, your primary training should prolly be toward that end. I you are looking at using lifting to support your endurance training to prevent injury, then you're prolly gonna be fine.

If you're asking what we think of your goal... well that hardly matters, right?

Are you going to train for a half or full marathon. I see both mentioned...

My guess is that she's training for a half, and then just calling it a marathon in the non-literal sense...

If you are running four days per week, you may want to lift only two for awhile. Or run three and lift three. Don't burn yourself out with too much exercise.

That's a lot of working out! Overworking yourself with that schedule will be easy especially as a new runner who is also new to NROL. Just make sure to listen to your body and scale back if you need to.

A 1/2 marathon is a great goal to shoot for and you have plenty of time to prepare for it. Ramp up slowly and you'll do great.

Default 1/2 marathon

Yes, I am talking 1/2 marathon. I am new to running. I have done weights, yoga, balanceball, aerobics for about 2 years. I am just new to the NROL4W book-method.

I will be taking it slow, first goal is 5 miles by May 1. Second goal is 1/2 marathon by October.
As far as lifting the amount of weight is not important to me just the conditioning. I lift quite a bit at work and it makes life easier.

Thanks for the support.

I think if those are your goals, then you are going to nail them. You're goals are very realistic, and are I'm sure you'll do great! Keep us in the know!!!

Yes, you're giving yourself plenty of time to build. I think it's harder to build from one mile runs to five mile runs than to make the leap from five to a 1/2-M.
