Sorry it took so long to get back on. I told you I'd let you know who my second 5K went.......uhhhh, I missed it!

After 5K#1 on 5/27 I figured the bout of food poisioning I had was over, quess not! I ended up in the hospital on Wed thru Tuesday with an intestional blockage. The problem was severe enough they consulted with a surgeon but 'fortunately' both my primary and the surgeon were off for the weekend, the on-call docs wanted to wait and by Sunday things were improving and I avoided the knife.

I lost another 10 pounds (after the 6 I lost by running) of weight I didn't have to loose in the first place!

Still dragging some, but I participated in our local Relay for life and jogged around the track a few times (I was actually MISSING running by then) and got out yesterday morning for 2 miles just see what I could do.
After the first 1/2 mile it felt good. Man, my hammies are SOOO tight!

Some good news, while in the hospital they often checked my blood pressure, pulse, etc and the nurse kept commenting on what a low, athletic pulse I have! At my followup doc appt, I had had a previous heart ultrasound, and that showed a 30% improvement from my last test!!

Good to hear from you, sorry to hear of you, but glad things are improving. Keep it up, and keep in touch!

Sorry to hear about your setbacks -- I'll be looking for your "strong comeback" post in the coming weeks

Good to see you back, Colonel. The hospital stay must have been pretty scary for awhile. Good thing you did avoid surgery!
