Yeah, the Speedway can cook, especially if they don't have the industrial fans going.
Jim, my flight arrives at 9:15pm in Indy and I am staying with my parents that night. I need to talk with them about Saturday after the race. What pace are you guys looking at? I might run with one of you.

I'm hoping to run 7:00s. Maybe with the possibility of breaking 1:30:00.

I'll be leaving work on Friday at 4:00. My new job is just a couple miles from downtown, so that should put me at the expo by quarter after.
I'll be going for a 10 minute pace. I hope that's not too fast for you.
I ran after work tonight in 85 degree weather. That wasn't very smart. I'm very glad that this race is early in the morning.

Jim, I have to take my girls to school Friday, so the earliest I will get away from here is 8:00AM. I think that will put me into Indy by 3:00PM Central Time - probably a little earlier since I am traveling alone. Is Indy Eastern or Central? I guess I should find that out! Jamie said he has to work all day Friday, so he won't be going to the Expo until after work.
kmwest - I'm probably going to try to run a 7:15 pace to see if I can make it in 1:35. I really don't know what to try, but I know I am way out of PR range. I'm hoping with adequate rest this week, I will be able to run around that pace. Once I get out of the mob, I'll try it out for awhile and see whether I need to slow down or speed up (doubtful!).
EDIT: Jamie posted while I was typing. I could always go straight to the Expo if needed. How much time were you planning to spend there, Jamie???

I'm not sure. It depends on how much free stuff I can pick up... Probably no more than an hour and a half or so.

I think Indy is in the Eastern time zone, making your ETA 4 pm. I have about a 270 mile trip, about 5 hours, due to the fact a lot of it is not on an interstate. I'm going to try to get there by 3 pm. That'll give me time to get the room before heading to the expo. If you want, you can meet me at the hotel and then we can meet Jamie at the expo.

Indy is in Eastern. Dave, I think I'll hang with you for as long as I can.

Really? I assumed I would be running way too slow for you.
Don't forget that I didn't sign up for better seeding.
However, if you want to run together, that sounds good to me! Like I said, I am unsure how my pacing will go, but I wanted to start out on the faster side of what I think I can do right now... just in case!

Jim, that sounds good. Jamie, do you need to go home right after the expo?? If so, that's why I thought I could go straight there if needed... depending on your Friday evening schedule.

Oh yeah, the daily compulsive update:
From the NWS:
Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 53.
Saturday: Partly cloudy, with a high near 73.
Lookin' good! Especially if not humid.

That weather forecast is looking good.

So, Indianapolis is pancake flat, ain't it. I was just exploring on Google Earth, and it looks as level as New Orleans!

Yeah, the race is very flat. The only elevation change is when you run under the track to get inside the Speedway! Great PR course.

My plan is to meet up with you guys and my brother-in-law while I'm at the expo and then going out to dinner with whoever is interested.

Apparently you haven't read my training log in the past eight months, have you? :p 7:15 pace sounds like a good goal for me right now. We'll see if we pass up Jim. Or perhaps he'll be drawn in by the bars offering free beer around mile 11. :p

Well I have, but I just assumed you would be running faster. I didn't think you had slowed down that much. :p Whatever the case, just take off at any time you want to. I have a feeling I am far more likely to slow down than speed up. I've been fading quite a bit on longer runs this month (although didn't too bad on Sunday and cranked it for the final mile).

I've strategically arranged for Hot Gym Chick to suddenly appear at Mile 12 and distract him and cause him to fall over the mile marker.
