Yeah... I only train 2.5-3 months for a 1/2 Marathon. That's probably why my times hover in the 2:10 range. If I was a little more serious about it, I think I could get it under 2 hours.

Get to work, Jamie -- you only have 4-1/2 months until Indy!

If anyone wants to know how I trained I'll be glad to lay it out, but it is basically what Dave says. I trained most of the year running only 1 day a week and focused on the metabolic conditioning CF workouts the rest of the week. It brought me from an injury-riddled 30+ minute 5k runner to the NYC marathon injury-free.

Are ya'll still planning an Indy marathon? Would any of you be interested in doing a mini seminar with Bill H. that weekend, a day or so before/after the marathon?
Just checking interest...don't have any details. It would be 4-6 of us and we'd get to pick his brain/assessments/ART/whatever we need?

Good idea Cappy... perhaps someone who knows Bill should get in contact with him?

It's up in the air if I'll be there. I definitely am registered for the race, but don't know if I can do it.

Cappy, that would be great. Are you coming up for Indy?? Twins, kmwest, Jruck, and I are all registered for the 1/2-M. Buk may take kmwest's slot of he can't make it (although if Buk runs the Country Music Marathon, that might change that plan... since I think they are one week apart).

cool beans, that's enough to make a quorum I'll check with Bill on the dates and see how it works out. Maybe I WILL be running by then. Is there a 5k?
Merry Christmas, btw

Cappy, there is a 5K. I haven't checked the site recently, so I don't know whether it's full. The Half-Marathon has been closed for a few weeks - apparently it is extremely popular!

Oh, I get it. Bill lives in Indianapolis!! I was trying to figure out why Bill would come talk to such a small group and thought Cappy must have some amazing powers of persuasion!!! Hopefully she does, because he still might not want to spend time chatting with such a small group, even if he is local!

Oh, I had already planted the seed, and 4-6ppl was his suggestion. Will let you know if these dates work out! I'm suggesting the 4th and then 1/2 day or so after your races.

Someone's behind the learning curve... :p but I don't doubt Cappy's powers of persuasion .
The 5k doesn't fill up. There was hardly anyone who did it last year, if I remember correctly.

Just got my MOS assignment on Friday - 0602 communications officer. Comm-o school starts sometime in late June or early July, which means that I'll be working somewhere (don't know where) between March 15 (when I graduate from my current school) and when Comm school picks up.
Long story short, I should be able to do Indy... slowly :P
