Running - Daily?
I'm wondering how often other runners in here train?
Do you run daily, or every other day?
How often is too often?
I have limited my running to, at least, every other day to avoid over training.
But I have been considering adding a few additional runs. I find myself "itching" to do a run on my off days.
I know that noone can tell me what is "over training" for ME. But I'm interested to know how often others here run.

I run two days a week. One tempo or fartleks and one long one. Any more and I start to get IT band issues. To supplement I do one metobolic conditioning day in the gym (tabata stuff, complexes, etc.), a max effort day (usually squats or deads in some variations) and one day to do mobility stuff and oly lift practice (usually with just an empty bar).
My week looks like this:
Monday: Met con in the gym
Tuesday: Max Effort
Wednesday: tempo run or fartleks
Thursday: mobility
Friday: off
Saturday: long run
Sunday: off

It varies from a Summer low of 3-4 days per week to 5-6 days per week when training for marathon(s). I'm hitting about 6 days per week right now. I'll probably cut that back after my marathon in December, even though I'm planning to run 1 or 2 50K trail races during the Winter. I'll probably go for more of a 4 day per week plan for those.

4 days a week here. I'm in my last week before my taper. I've been doing two medium long run of 11-13 runs, 1 speedwork day, and 1 long run which will top out at 22 miles this weekend.
I've had no extra time or energy to hit the weights for about a month now. After the marathon on the 29th, I'll get back to the gym 3 times a week and probably run only twice a week- one mediumish and one HIIT.
That may change, though. Right now I'm really tiring of running, though I really enjoy it. Maybe I'll really miss it when I cut back.

I have been doing 3 a week but this week my schedule starts to call for 4. Although considering the times I am posting you can't really call it running yet.
I lift and do some small amouts of cardio on the other 3 days of the week.

Thanks for the responses guys. Sounds like most of you, pretty much do the same as I do. With the exception of Bama. And, of course, he is super human.
Bama, I've never done 5-6 days a week. I guess I was wondering if I could endure that kind of schedule when I first posted this thread.
But since then I have downloaded a running schedule to prepare for my first marathon in March. It's mostly every other day. A few days back to back. Long runs on saturdays.
So I'll be sticking to that through March. After that....we'll see.

In my tri training season, I would typically run 5 or 6 days a week, since I identified the run as an area of improvement for this summer. Typically one long run, two tempo or speedwork, two medium distance runs, and then either a short recovery run or a short run coming off a long bike ride to recreate the jello legs feeling. Right now, I'm running probably 4 days a week just for run. Lots of trail running now!

I run once a week right now, due to school, work and trying to get re-accustomed to it from not running the entire summer.
Dumbass.

2 - 3 days a week. I expect to add a long run on weekends to that. Currently I lift 3 days a week as part of HGM. We'll see what happens, hope I don't become horribly deformed!

Jimbo, a good rule of thumb for building up your amount of running is to add no more than 10% more total miles per week....

Yeah, I'd be horribly crumpled in a little ball. That's a LOT of activity. That's awesome.
