Default Size UP in Your Running Shoes!

In case no one has ever suggested you try this, I am doing so here, now.
I fought this for so long, but I finally caved. WOW! What a difference! I feel so much better; my feet, legs, and back are more comfortable and I am blister-free. I can't imagine ever going back to "street shoe size" again.

I had this problem with one style of running shoe (Mizuno Wave Precision). Unfortunately for me, it was widely known that most people need to go up a half to full size for this shoe, but I missed that info. I've had a black toenail for months because of it! For other shoes I've tried, I'm okay with my usual street shoe size.

I saw the recs to size up but I didn't believe them. Because clearly I knew morre than the experts who tried them out in many fit-test trials.
I am currently suffering from curling toes due to my small shoes. It's good times.

I started going to an actual running shop about 2 years ago. It is amazing now much better fit you get when the guy actually cares if you get the right size shoe.

A-freaking-Men

I was convinced a year and a half ago that my 210lbs was just too much pounding on my legs and feet. I was always hurting from the knees down after runs of 2+ miles.

Going on some recommendations from some people here at work, I went and got fitted at a real store. Holy carp. They moved me from an 11.5 to a 12.5, and the shoes feel like heaven. In less than 3 months after that, I was running 6+ miles at a time, no pain.

Man, why didn't I go there sooner.

I got some new Asics Gel Landreths yesterday and went up a half size. I'm really looking forward to running in them. I won't today because I'm doing 10, but tomorrow I'll do a shorter distance to try them out.

Hopefully they will treat my achilles a little better than my Mizuno Wave Riders did during the first few miles. (It's better now, but I'm worried about "breaking in" a new shoe)
