Default The Tour Effect?

Is anyone seemingly riding stronger these Tour days? Because.... I apparently am. Or maybe it's because I'm taking more rest days in between rides. Or training properly. But my rides have all been faster lately.

PS: I'd like to invite all of you riders over to a new cycle site started by a local guy here in Chi-town - it is a cycling community in a way, but is really a cycling video site. It's a profile based site like a Myspace. PM me if you are interested and I'll send you the details on the site.

I always ride harder during the Tour, not sure why. Partly it's that while I'm struggling to hold 20 I try to imagine I'm averaging 30+.

I always ride slow, but maybe recently a little less slow.

It didn't work for me today. I was doing very well in the beginning of the ride and especially through some rollers in the middle, but in the last 10 miles or so, my legs pretty much stopped working. I fell off the back, and could only muster 20 mph, which was maddening. At least I had one other rider to work with me at this time.

Oh well, it was a beautiful day, and I didn't mind the drop because the group actually waited for me for our 4 mile cooldown to end the ride. That was nice of them. And it was a cool sight this week because almost all of the 22 or so riders (except 2) had team kits on. I think we're the only club with that kind of 'uniformity' [obligatory rim shot].

Now I know the problem. I need to go see Dr. Michel Ferari.

I donated RBCs last week, I wonder if I could have them pumped back in and then ride really fast.
