Default Another "Big" Problem

I have been searching and have not been able to find a pair of riding shoes that fit my big 'ole feet. 48 is too small, now I am not very familiar with European sizes but I wear a 13.5 to 14. What does that convert to? I believe it would be a 49 or 50. Does anyone know what my options are in this size?

according to http://www.i18nguy.com/l10n/shoes.html ...
you'd be a 48.5.... but if the 48 doesn't fit and you can't find it, I guess 49?

Our cycle shop's website has the ability to sort for shoes by size...
this is what it came up with
http://www.performancebike.com/shop/sub_cat.cfm
(you may need to redo the size search, I don't know if it's exactly the link)

Problem is that just went to my LBS, Performance actually, and they looked in their catologe and told me that no mtb shoe comes larger than 48. Now apparently a road shoe you can get in sizes up to 50. Now that is fine and dandy but I don't ride a road bike.

Can your shop get a size 49 or 50 mtb shoe?

Okay, again I invite anyone to call me stupid; just remember my lbc guy is doesn't know what he is talking about.

I have been looking for a pair of shoes and have come across Lake, apparently they do make them in a size 50.

Does anyone have any experience with this manufacture? A size 48 was snug in the toes and I only needed a half size larger (U.S. sizing speaking)

What really sucks is that all the size 50 shoes are currently unavialable.

I have the worst luck!

Keep in mind that shoe manufacturers fit different. I roll a size 13. I wear a 48 Sidi Mountain shoe. I wear a 47 Shimano road shoe.

So try another LBS. You have to have some others around you. Lake makes good products. I have never owned any, but they were on my list when I was looking for some road shoes recently.

Try another local LBS. Each LBS carries different brands.

SIDI, Cannondale, and SIDI all make a 49 and 50 mountain bike shoe (though not all styles are available in the bigger sizes).

I had a pair of Lakes, decent reliable shoes. The sizing was not an issue, as I recall. Not the stiffest road shoes in the world, but inexpensive and reliable.

How about regular pedals and toe clips, that is what I use. I am not a big one for clipless.

I have never used clipless pedals, so I am not really not looking at that. I am just looking for a good riding shoe. Right now I am using running shoes and my toes are numb at the end of the workout. Are you wearing regular sneakers or do you have a pair of riding shoes?
