Okay, here we go. K - if we paired you and Sarah, it would almost be you two vs. all of us. So let's try it evenly split this month, and then next month we'll have a Mutants vs. Mortals challenge. Cool?
Team 1 - emartin10, ODB, Mark57, finboy, Lance...er...Fish, ODBSGIRL, Kaiser
Team 2 - Pman, Kevin Littler, silly, BamaDave, caffer, Flee
So the scoring goes as follows. You'll earn points based on the percentage of your goal that you complete. I'll post updates probably once a week. We'll have Joe sticky a couple of threads up top for each team to log miles in. Smack talking is HIGHLY encouraged in this thread, but try to keep it bidniz in the log threads. So get out there and ride. It's spring!!!

I want dirt miles to count extra!! I'm a ween when it comes to the dirt and it takes everything I have to do half the mileage I could easily do on the road. Maybe it's WHICH dirt I'm riding....hhhhmmmmm...maybe I need to find flat double track with no rocks or roots

Hah - I hate to agree with Lisa , but she's right. Road miles are worth like half or 60% of dirt miles. My flat miles here in Illinois are probably half as hard (at most!) as your miles in CO Eric. I guess it doesn't matter since we've established our own benchmarks and have to meet them, but still.... I feel guilty riding skinny tire in flatland (OK, we do have wicked winds to compensate somewhat).
PS: Shouldn't Joe be on a different team than Lisa? lol.
PPS: Just in time for the first week - snow flurries and sleet here in Chi-town (yesterday it was 73, today it is 37). Yuck.
PPPS: After getting dropped by most of my team on windy Sunday, I don't think I'll be smack-talking anytime soon. Except about the color of Fish's handlebar tape.

I agree about the dirt miles, but in the end, it's a percentage of goal that gets you points. So my 250 road miles are in essense the same as someone else's 100 dirt miles if we both get 98% of our goal. Right?

That is the mostly good, but sometimes bad, thing about trees, they don't move...
I think the whole dirt/road thing is relative to an extent... I ride more dirt than road and I actually think that dirt is easier because of the downhills. I used to ride with a guy that could not keep up with me on tight hilly singletrack but he could kick my ass on the flat stuff or on the road, I just didn't have the lungs for it.
However, I might feel different if I ever actually spent some saddle time on a road bike..

Well, if you want to, we can have one road challenge and one mountain bike challenge.

My miles will be all over the place. On the street, on the trainer, and when it gets dry enough, on the trail.....

In that situation you have no one to blame but yourself. I think you should just stop riding altogether. Sure, your team takes a zero, but you'll be safer...

I don't think we need segregated challenges for mtn and road biking, since it's oriented around individual goal miles.

wasn't suggesting a separate challenge. was more of a "i wish I had thought ahead about time for road miles versus dirt miles" Knowing the only time I have to ride is Sunday mornings...I've put myself in a position requiring road rides to make mileage goals when if I had actually planned on one of those rides being dirt.... rrrrrrr more thinking out loud on the forum sorry

I also asked him if I could run sub 6 miles when it got better. He said sure. Which is cool since I've never run a sub 7 before, much less a sub 6. So I'm looking forward to that.

After having done some research I've run across similar things concerning the need for active rehab. How long was it after the injury before you started riding? regardless, I don't wanna hold a team back if I don't know when I'd be able to ride again (hopefully just another few days.)
Either way, good luck to everyone this month. I'll be cheering from the sideline.

Well this sucks! Just as I am getting ready to go for some serious miles I am looking at highs in the 30 with snow the next week! It sure will make for a bit of catch up work the last two thirds of the month. I am not a fan of cold riding! Ah, such is life.
I think Kaiser is sending this stuff my way to damper our teams chances!

Nah, I'll be OK. I've only ever had one tree ever jump out in front of me... I stoped it with my shoulder, it popped back in on it's own and I was good in about 4 weeks...
Wow, it didn't take long for the trash talking to start!!!!:p
PMAN, nice to have a teammate from MI!!
