Anyone have any suggestions for distance or online CECs? NASM seems pretty picky and most only go for .1 or they are incredibly expensive. I really don't mind spending the money IF the material is worth it....the problem is.... what is worth it?
If you are interested (or if it helps you give advice specific to me):
-I don't train clients anymore but I LOVE learning. I am most interested in injuries/rehab, nutrition, weight management, strength training, psychology, program design, and program adherence/motivation. Moderately so in youth training.
-Not particularly interested in senior training, pre/during/post pregnancy, aqua training, specific sport related programming

I'd appreciate ANY help I can get.
Thanks!
Why not just pay the $600? for one of their "advanced credentials" the CES or PES or whatever else they offer?
They count for 1.9 CECs which along with your CPR .1 will recertify your nasm-cpt certification and give you another cert which doesn't expire in the process.
You can probably learn a lot from the PES/CES too and have good reference to look back on.

I have considered it, but as I don't plan on earning a living through training, it seems like an awful lot of money to spend on CECs. Maybe if it was a 3 day multi-class conference taught by some of the best/most educated individuals around the country, but....
Plus, if I'm going to spend that much I would much rather spend it on texts/materials that NASM doesn't currently recognize (basically a lot of Human Kinetics' stuff and individual trainers' educational products).
You do have a good point, if I DID plan on making this my career the PES or CES would likely be beneficial.
Join ptonthenet.com...$85 a year you can get about 85% or more of your cecs for free by taking quizes and exams on articles. most quizes are approved for other certifications as well. For example I have taken 6 quizzes each one is worth .20 credits for ACE and NASM so I already have 1.2 and credits for both my NASM-CPT, and my ACE-CPT. $85 is much cheaper than $300-$600 like most course..plus get get tons of other stuff on ptonthenet as well its a no brainer! :-)
Thanks for the suggestion dmodderman.... I think I might just do that. I used to have a subscription but let it lapse when I stopped training full time. I figured I'd rather spend that money on AA's Research Review as I seem to come away learning more from that then from most of PTOTN's articles.... but I suppose it is time to switch back.

I second this. I've picked up a lot of NASM cec's through the free exams o ptonthenet.com. Also, you earn points for taking them that can give you discounts on live seminar's for more CEC's. The Perform Better 1-Day Learn by Doing seminars are pretty inexpensive and good for .7 units.
The NCCPT is approved for NASM CEus and counts as 1.6 CEUs. If you look under NASMs website under approved cont. ed providers they are listed as future fit.
it depends on where you live, you can take there exam, if you pass its only 99 bucks.
here's more info from a site that posted info about it:
DSW Fitness http://www.dswfitness.com/ has courses that can go toward your CEU and they are way cheaper then NASM. NASM seems to rehash on what you learned in their PT course in their extra CEU courses. I did their exercise bundle which is supposed to be closer to their Corrective Exercise Certification for under $300 I believe. Good luck and if you find any good courses let us know...
And NASM PRO on line also gives out free CEU courses (it's not much) but it's free. You do have to be NASM Certified.
