YouTube - Athlete Training with Sledgehammers

I feel like i'm witnessing some sort of "let's add as many implements as we can to this exercise" show.

Just bored and on YouTube...entertainment!

dammit. is sad when just looking at the link for the song gets it stuck in your head so that you HAVE to click to get the damn thing out and then you start running through all the silly youtube searches you've done recently and get The Facts of Life and Brady Bunch theme songs stuck in your head.

grrr.

Bizarre but not uncommon to see stuff like this. Some trainers take "core" training and "functional" training way too far sometimes and this is definitely an example. I hope that this trainer had liability insurance because if he was self employed and she was hurt, he could be sued.

I agree! I think he must be trying to come up with his own "special exercises" to dazzle the parents into thinking he's cutting edge, so they then fork over more money. "If it's round, put it on the ground!" WTF?
And does anyone even bother using those lame dynadiscs anymore?
At least he could have the poor girl "stick" the landing. I am somewhat curious to ask the trainer exactly why he considers this exercise to be effective.

That reminds me when I was in... hmm I think about 7th grade.

Know what happens when you have 12 year olds balancing on large cardboard tubes that carpets or wrestling mats are usually rolled upon, then tell them to jump off, when the tube is allowed to roll freely?

One of those 12 year olds goes home with a broken arm.

Then when he gets to participate in PE later that year, he breaks the same arm again doing something equally as stupid under the direction of the "coach".

Then 20 years later because of the bones healing improperly, he ends up with severe impingements in his elbow which translates into about only 30% ROM in his wrist, and constant dysfunction in the same shoulder from continually compensating.

That could have been a nice lawsuit, if only it had happened when I was older and could recognize the problems.

OK, If you can't do a complete push-up with hands on the floor, what is doing them on inverted KB's going to provide you, other than sprained wrists?

OMG! Yes! I saw it the other day, in fact! I kept scratching my head going "why is he proud of balancing a bodybar on top of a kettlebell handle?" AND he falls off...it makes sense to me for someone to try to make things challenging, but that kinda thing is ridiculous! Why don't people use kettlebells for what they're for...KETTLEBELL TRAINING...not for adding to a circus act? it's pretty entertaining, though!

I concur! It's sad to me that people are blind to this! It's extremely irresponsible. Why do people feel the need to bombard the public with crap like this? They don't realize it's crap...and the public doesn't either...ugh.

That just makes me think...know how he says "what's carli gonna do next?"
Would be really sad if the next vid he puts out says "break her arm."
He's a lawsuit waiting to happen...just takes time.

Yeah, she'll fall and he'll say "that was awesome" like he did when he fell in the other vid, before realizing she shattered a cheekbone or something nasty.
