Default Liability Insurance

What/who is everyone using?

I currently use HPSO, whom I feel gives me good deal, but haven't looked around too much. honestly, as I am a full time ATC, i only see a few clients on the side as an LLC, so I feel there may be a better premium out there.

This is who I use.

Call and talk to Ken Reinig. He's my agent, and they are EXCELLENT!

I was paying over $14K per year for insurance before I found them and now I pay around $2400. They are much more available, they are much more thorough and comprehensive, and they know this business inside and out. They specialize in our industry.

If you call them, mention that you were sent there by JP Fitness... If my rate is cheaper than normal maybe they will feel obligated to extend the discount to you.

As an individual trainer your insurance will be pretty cheap. I'm paying to insure a whole health club in a premier office building, so I have to be insured for just about anything you can think of.

They will build the right program for you based on your needs. You'll really like them. As hard as it is for me, they are the first agency I have actually liked. I went through about three before them, and I despised them all. They were all out to get all the money and commissions they could out of me. I almost sued one of them. Long story.

Another option might be "Fitness & Wellness" - used to be Murrier & Frick - and they've been pretty good. They'll cover individuals, facilities, and outdoor training, and allow "Additionally Insured" on the policy. I think you have to join IDEA - (ideafit.com) but you can sign up online and be covered within a week. The IDEA publications aren't bad - worth the membership/subscription fee, at least in my opinion.

I also use trainerinsurance.com, since I'm an independent/private contracted trainer. I feel it's a must to have if you're independent. Although I've never had anyone injured (knocks on wood) under my supervision, you never know.

Will these insurance still cover you if the training location is at your home as oppose to a commercial gym or the client's home?

Depends on the company... Fill out the questionaires each one provides and you'll find out.
