Default 123 pounds of power

Okay so I'm not actually 123 pounds...yet. I'm working towards it. I'm currently at about 130. Anyways, I'm Sara, Ray's girlfriend. You may know him as northernwisco. Hence the name, missnorthernwisco. I just finished three weeks of GPP, and I'm ready to lift some weights. Depending on how my training goes, I may be competing in the twin ports open. Ray convinced me. Right now here are my maxes (raw).

Bench - 95 lbs
Squat - 150 lbs
Deadlift - 135 lbs

Tomorrow I start my powerlifting split.

Good stuff,

Ive been trying to get my girlfriend (who also powerlifts) to start a log on here, maybe this log will help convince her..

You have some solid lifts there, I imagine your deadlift is going to skyrocket with some PL training. One thing I noticed with my girlfriend is that her sumo deadlift is much better then her conventional deadlift because of hip strength. You may want to play around with that if you havn't yet.

Okay. First day of PL split. I'm pretty excited. I'm going to meet Ray and his lifting partner at IST at around 3:30. From what I understand, in the following weeks I'll be doing 5-3-1s with my squat, deadlift, and bench. We'll have to see. Ray says my form is great in deadlift, but absolutely terrible in bench so I'm assuming we'll work on that too. As for squat, I guess I'm not getting low enough when I do higher weights. I think that's because I'm scared I'll fall backwards or something with all of that weight. I'm sure I'll be able to overcome that with some practice though.

I'll post my workout later!

Workout went pretty good today. I was a little disappointed though. I felt like I could've done more, but no big deal, I'll do better next time. Anyways here's how it went

Warm Up-
lunges

Squat
95 x 5
105 x 5
115 x 5
125 x 3 (I feel like I could have done five though--this was where I was disappointed)

Good Mornings
45 x 6 (5 sets)

Shrugs
25 x 5 (4 sets)
30 x 5

Hammer Curls
12 x 10each arm
12 x 5each arm (3 sets)

My left shoulder has been really sore since I lifted yesterday. Not the muscles, but like the bone. It's really tired, and achey. Is this just a normal thing, or should i be concerned?

if your shoulder hurts from squatting you might be holding the bar to high that with a combination of the lack of upper back mass

Today was supposed to be my deadlift day. It's not looking all that likely though, I think I'm coming down with the flu. Last night was pretty rough...headache, fever, stomach ache, chills...all that fun stuff. I'm hoping I can recover by later though, I had pretty high hopes for my lift today.

So I never got around to deadlifting yesterday :[ so we had to rework my lifting schedule. My new schedule: Saturday Max effort bench, Sunday max effort squat, Monday off, Tuesday Speed form bench, Wednesday Deadlifting and Speed squat, Thursday Friday off.

As you can see, today was max effort bench. Here's how it went.

Bench
45x5 warm up
60x5
70x5
75x2 (felt kinda weak with this one)

DB floor press
25x4 (2 sets)
25x5

Overhead press
15x6 (2 sets)
15x7 (2 sets)

DB row
25x6 (2 sets)
30x6
35x6

We also got some film of me doing my bench. I'll post those on here as soon as I get 'em on youtube! Feedback would be great.

1-20-09 (this is ray writting this)

Squat-
55x3
75x3
95x3
115x3
125x3
135x3 PR
145x3 PR

Rack Deads
135x3
185x3
225x1 half way on the 3rd

We are still trying to play with numbers to see where she is at I was really surprised by her squat she struggled with 135x2 about 10 days ago. Should be back to a normal workout schedule for her now that we both dont have the flu.

as you can see, he posted my workout for me. I was soo excited about the 225. We've got some videos. I wanna have the 145x3 video and the 225x1 video. Hopefully I'll get that up tomorrow! I felt that I probably could've done better today, given that I coached dance practice before my lift. I was a little bit worn out after teaching dance to a bunch of fourth and fifth grade girls! Anyways, I'm looking forward to what next week will bring, as we'll be doing singles. Go time :]
