So. I received some pretty bad news today. I have patellofemoral pain syndrome in my left knee. Ugh. So they suited me up with a brace that I'm supposed to wear when I coach my dance teams, and when I work out. Here's the worst part-- I should avoid deadlifting and I can only squat down about 45 degrees...not to the full ninety until my knee gets stronger. So that puts a damper on my training--I'm pretty disappointed about this.
More about my knee problem- I guess it's some kind of thing where my kneecap scrapes something underneath it when I bend my leg to a ninety degree angle. My pt thinks a brace should help (like a juzo thing or something??) but if not, then I'm going to need an mri and some formal physical therapy. If it still continues to bother me... I may need surgery to "sand down" the part that's scrapping against my kneecap (or atleast that's what I understood). Hopefully it doesn't come to that.
I've got two weeks to see if it gets better or not. In the meantime, I've gotta do some exercises to see if I can strengthen the muscle on the right side of my knee cap, and hopefully that'll help to my patella correctly.
Needless to say, I'm pretty bummed.
