Default 1 ton here I come........

Well I got an itch to start powerlifting again! I will be following training set up by Frank! My BW is around 235. I want to do my first comp some time summer 2009have never trained with anything more than a belt and I want to compete in gear so that will be a change as well. Never done box squats, speed any thing or any band work. Oh hot damn this is my jam lol its gonna be fun.

stats as of right now

Bench- 335

Squat(No belt)- testing today guessing 455

Dead (no belt)- 485

Total- 1275

So I have a ton of work to get to a 2000 lbs total. It will be done
Please feel free to cretique and give advice when needed.

Thanks
Ray

Day 4 do some deadlift work after the squat. Every other week heavy.

also on day 3, dont do singles off the 3 board, do 3-5 reps for a few sets.

hard to say..

i get approx
100lbs or less out of my shirt (I REALLY suck in a shirt. should get at least 150)
200lbs out of my squat gear
0 for conventional dead

the more you use it the better you get with it..

Yep, double ply, monolift. open back shirts too. Good fed i hear, really well ran meets.

also, USPF now has a d2 division which is multiply. They are affiliated with the GPC which is where i am competing in 2 weeks here.. the only rule difference between the D2 and UPA is that for D2 your bench shirt has to be closed back.

Id go for the squat suit first. bench shirts are a real bitch to learn and will give you a bad opinion about gear hahaha

the suit will add more lbs to your squat. what suits are you considering? I think im pretty similar to your size so i could maybe give some advice on sizing.

Good suit, easy to learn too. I do most of my squat training in one even though i use the ACE for contests.

I wear a size 50. At 5'9 @ 210-215 it was a little to big. now at 240lbs its pretty damn tight.

Depending on where you are taking your weight, the 48 could work. I wanted a 48 when i was lighter. But I think you would have a hell of a time getting on a new unstretched 48 at 235.

register for fortified-iron.com and check out the classifieds. i get alot of my stuff from guys on there, you can really save alot of money. if its double-ply gear it usually lasts pretty well so it can be worth it.

I just looked quickly, didnt see a 50pro squatter, but i did see a 50 ace squatter for 130.. that may be a little much though.

nah.. i have a 50 ace. it took some getting used too ill give it that. Really got to be able to withstand the pressure in the hole. While you are learning it you could keep the straps down for a while.

The ace suit has a ton of support, for sure, its one of the best suits on the market. But its not insane if you dont add breifs + wraps.

good choice. the pro was my first real suit, i still use it for most of my training. Very predictible, not to hard to get on, adjustible straps etc.

Yeah ive had that problem before. I often drive 3-4 hours (each way) to train on the weekends because of that.

You just need to find one training partner, and use a power rack (incase you really miss a bench/squat) and you will be fine. I just train with my girlfriend 90% of the time. She helps me get my gear on when needed and gives me lift offs and such.

Its not ideal, but you gotta get it done somehow.

Im sure there is a group of powerlifters around you somewhere.
