Comments:
-Weighed 85.8kg at the comp yesterday, so 1.8kg down from last Sunday. Still 3.3kg over comp weight! May drop some more weight this week, to allow for some weight gain later when going heavier, don't want to be much over 87kg if I'm going to compete at 82.5kg, although 87 to 82.5 in a week should be doable.
-Managed to get into that 28 TRX today, and it was bloody tight! Yoji had noticeable stretched it though, as I couldn't get into it last time. Once I've broken it in more, and I get down to comp weight 82.5kg, it should be easily manageable.
-Just did a deadlift to see if I could get down to the bar, a-okay
-Now have a new squat/dl suit, and new bench shirt - both are the smallest possible stock sizes that I can use.
Happy that this suit worked out, it was borderline lol. The hips were so damn tight.
Now 9 training weeks until the end of year local comp, wrist still a bit tender, but doesn't matter, thinking of taking some time off squatting/benching at the end of the year, maybe do an assload of deadlifts instead? Maybe 2x a week deadlifting, and no squats or benching for 3 weeks or so, lots of rows too.
Goals for this next comp are:
255kg squat
152.5kg bench
260kg dead
667.5kg total
Elite 2 total, triple bw 250+ squat and A grade 150+ bench press.
Deadlift
65kg x 6
110kg x 4
155kg x 2
180kg x 1
150kg x 6(4 sets)
Speed Squat
20kg x 6
65kg x 3
95kg x 3(5 sets)
DB Row
105lbs x 20(2 sets)
NG Seated Cable Row
45kg x 20(2 sets)
Comments:
-Will start doing this back work every Wednesday from now on until the comp, feel I haven't been doing enough back work lately.
-Also bump up the weights on the speed squats, I can do 120kg fast, but I've been using 95ish for the last few weeks, I'll build it up to whatever I can get fast.
Ive always thought that Box jumps would be far more beneficial than speed squats to
improving speed. You can think your squatting fast, but its pretty obvious if you dont jump fast enough to clear the box.
Im pretty sure my squat advice is worth zero though
have you ever thought of using bands when you speed squat? I used to be the worlds slowest squatter and i think the bands made me faster.
I'm a pretty damn quick squatter, so probably won't benefit hugely from speed work. I was just saying I'd been lazy and using light weights, which I can accelerate extremely fast with little effort.
I haven't been doing speed bench lately, to cut down the volume for my wrist. Probably will keep it this way atleast until the comp.
Saw a physio about the wrist, he gave me some sports tape to wrap it, said that should work better than wrist wraps as there isn't any stretch in them. He also said he thinks I might have a ganglion cyst inside the joint. I'll try doing that for squats and benches this week.

Maybe for a sport or something, but for squats specificity rules.
If you put enough tension to get an overspeed eccentric you will benefit. I think using bands is a large reason why my squat went from low 7s to mid 8s.
Funniest thing I've ever heard anyone say about stretch marks:
"bio oil is good. they suck but from a girls perspective i mite notice them on a guy but its no big deal...just like chicks who have em on their boobs there still NICE boobs and youd still wonna touch em right lol"
I meant generally, over the last 3 training sessions the more "serious" part of your training was done with books, or even if it is not serious you are just using them a lot. So why is it?
