Well I'm in a 36 centurion, I could not physically fit into a 34. So the suit is about as tight as it's going to get, without going to custom sizes - it would have stretched out a bit though, but the suit is tight.

I used old wraps, and wrapped myself, not that tight. I didn't have a belt on.

I still think I could get depth with pretty light weights with full comp tight wraps, and a belt though!

Will post the weeks training soon, don't have the book with me now. But I did a double on Close grip press off 3 books with 130kg, deadlifted 225 for three doubles, benched 127 for three doubles, and squatted 207 for three doubles.

Is the fusion a good deadlift suit?

i got a metal king pro (its the same as the king ipf suit, but it has adjustable straps), the thing seems pretty good so far. hard as hell to get to the bar, but any weight is going to get to your knees with it.

It is a good suit yeah, I've heard the 2 best IPF deadlift suits are the king, and the fusion.

The fusion gives great pop off the floor, absolutely kills an Inzer Hardcore. I would say it's probably the best suit out for IPF, maybe the titan velocity could be better.

I have had the problem of the straps falling down though, as they are angled out, maybe if you have broad shoulders this won't be a problem. My training partner mentioned he saw a world class lifter with a fusion in some picture, and the straps were falling off too lol. Maybe if the straps were designed like a centurion, it would give a bit more, but I think it only really affects doing reps, as after the first rep, the straps are lower.

Mines a bit too loose(its a size 30 LOL, smallest size is 26, I need a 28!!!), especially now that I'm a bit lighter.

I'm interested to hear reports of the Titan velocity, hopefully it's just like a fusion, but with Titan style straps which are awesome.

Even if they were that tight, they would still be sliding down a bit, it's the design of the suit.

The velocity will be a good suit I think, I thought about getting one - but it just wasn't proven enough for me. Im happy with the metal suit so far. I think once I learn it- ill get 50lbs out of it, so a 700+ pull may pretty close.

good luck on your meet next weekend.

28/03/09 Saturday

Bench Press 40 f6
80kg x 3
100kg x 2
120kg x 1
140kg x F
140kg x 1 paused PR
140kg x 1 paused

Comments:
-I'm dissapointed with this session, the 140 presses weren't that solid, not that easy either
-I'm about 5kgs stronger raw, but 2.5kgs lighter...
-Plan is 135 opener, then 140 for a 2.5kg PR, then 142.5 or 145 depending

Squat 36 centurion

145kg x 2
175kg x 1
---wraps on---

225kg x 1

Comments:
-Decent day today, not 100% though
-220 double was pretty good, felt light, will open on this
-225 single still felt light, didn't look super good though. Coach said not quite easy enough for an opener. Damn. Wanted to get an easy as double of this and open on it, oh well...
-I still think I'm good for 240kg+++ in the comp, plan is 220/232.5/240

In the time you took your press from 137.5 to 140kg, i took mine from 185kg to 227.5kg. I think you need to consider looking at your bench training a little differently. Throwing on the shirt a few weeks out doesn't work for everyone, didn't for me at all.

I blame losing 2.5kgs, and shirt stuff haha, I need to work that out.

I'm 5kgs stronger raw though, so once i get the shirt sorted I'll be good.

In the last year or so, my raw has gone up maybe 25lbs while my shirted has gone up 150+. Ive come to the conclusion that for me anyway, raw strength is a poor indicator of where I will be at in a shirt. Its all lockout power, i bet what I could do to a 4 board would be a better indicator.

He should just lift in CAPO to give him the ability to gear up

2009 Australian Junior Powerlifting Championships(IPF)

I had a pretty good day. First and second attempt squats were completely misgrooved, looked real crap, so went for a conservative 237.5kg 3rd - the form was decent on this one, so it wasn't nearly as hard as my second. I'm sure I have 245kg in me if I nail my form.

Bench was good, maybe even 'too good'. 135 opener was a bit shaky getting used to the comp handout etc, 140 second was easy, 145 third was also easy, I think I should have gone for 150! After knocking out a couple of grinders at 140kg in training, I have no idea how I was this strong, but I'll take it.

Deads, easy 240kg opener, but failed my 2nd and 3rd. 2nd attempt I set up, pulled at the bar a tiny bit, but as my setup was off, i then reset and did a comfortable 250kg pull - failed due to the fact that I kinda had two tries lol!!! Bumped the 3rd up to 256 for the commonwealth junior record, did the same thing as the 2nd attempt with my setup, had a crack anyway and didn't get it, it was pretty close and I think I would have got it if I had nailed my setup - I was just nervous, and got in closer to the bar than usual when setting up, causing me to kick the bar out when I was 'preloading' the bar, those who attended the workshop will understand.

So a 622.5kg(417 wilks) total at 82.15kg officially, 632.5kg(424 wilks) if my 2nd bonified deadlift attempt had counted!

I think I won the national juniors, but I'm not 100% sure. The comp was organised fairly poorly, should have been a 2 day comp - they didnt even do a medal presentation!!!!

Yep, I would have had it too if I hadn't fucked up.

I figure I had the strength for 245/150/256 on the day, so I'll aim for 250/155/265 at open nationals in july.

I think we've competed on the same day a couple of times now, so try and find a meet on July 18th!!!

Did you see Andy Bolton's 1008 deadlift? Better than 1003, but legs weren't locked. It's like he gets closer to locking out the more weight he puts on!!! Maybe if he puts another 5 pounds on, he will fully lock it out

Back in the gym for a light recovery session on Tuesday. Back, quads especially have been pretty sore, elbows have had some very slight aching since the comp too, I've got shirt elbow in my right arm. Should be fine with the easy training in the next few weeks.

I thought the 1008 was good, watched it from a few angles and I would have given it to him no doubt. Wait until bennis return, I would not be surprised if 1050 happens.

I don't think it would pass at IPF world, as his legs were soft. But maybe in an IPF local comp lol.

Didnt realise you had a comp, looks like it all went pretty well.
Sucks about the deadlifts, a Commonwealth record would be cool

But on comp day my strength peaked, and I did an easy 145kg and probably could have done 150kg. Going to shoot for a 10kg PR at nationals, and battle for 2nd place.
