Comments:
-125kg was pretty easy, could have done 130kg today for sure, I think I'm set for 135ish in the comp
-Board presses went well too, up to 130kg next week for doubles
I managed to get the suit on at the end of the session, with alot of help, a bit of time, suit slippers, and alot of talc.
It is ridiculously tight, especially around the legs. It's probably designed for somebody with 20"-22" thighs, mine are about 25", so it looked ridiculous with like huge muffin-top type thing happenning down there, except with muscle not fat... Here's a drawing of what it looks like, except more ridiculous than I can draw:
Got the straps up, and did some squats with 65kg, no where near depth. I'll need to put alot of weight on to get the suit up higher, and maybe get depth! Will test out the suit on Sunday and with my coach, make a judgment call about what to do, it's likely I'll have to send it back and get a size bigger(38).
liftinglarge website has a size 38 as "extreme competition fit", maybe I should have listened But I saw the USAPL 82.5kg Sub Junior Champ wears a 34, and thought... I hope I can make this suit work!
Are those supposed to be your thighs or your calves?

I've made some huge mistakes, but they were necessary, because without them I wouldn't have learned anything.

If I can get depth in this suit, I'm going to get a shitload of carryover I know it. But I'm going to need to break the suit in(I hope this doesn't take too long), so I can get depth, and then practice dropping faster in the new suit. If this works, with my new wraps too, I could squat 230kg
Got the suit on now, managed to do it in decent time, and I have it pulled up all the way(ouchie). I've tried squatting down with nothing, and getting into deadlift positions, I reckon I could get to the bar in sumo, but no conventional. I'll leave the suit on for a bit more, its cutting off circulation a bit for sure so probably not too long, and I'll get into it and squat/deadlift with bodyweight again tonight. Should be nice and stretched for tomorrow! I'll post a pic of what it looks like soon, for your enjoyment Matthew...

simon - the suit fits fine, just stretch out the legs with a football or something or loose the fat on your legs
Really?
Huh. Shows what I know about gear.

If you can get it on + hit depth its not to tight. not uncommon to be bleeding once you take your gear off. Those legs are going to stretch out too. The most important size of the suit is around the hips, and by the sounds of things it fits good there.
my quads are a little big compared to my hips/gut so i have the same issue. baby powder, suit slippers and SHW powerlifters help.
I put it on twice yesterday at home, and stretched it out a bit. I squatted in it today, and it went on fine.
Difference between in the morning, dry, no food or water in me, vs. night time 2kgs heavier is HUGE. This morning the suit slid on pretty easily, taking it off was faster too, as opposed to last night it took like 20+ minutes to get it off, I thought it was going to be stuck there!
This is a good size for me, as it breaks in a bit over the next 2 weeks it will be perfect, 220kgs here I come! I know this is as tight as I can go, size 34 would be too tight(comp fit for 67.5kg lifter). A guy my size in the usapl wears a 34 though:
Quote:
dunner i wear a 34 at 181 and its very tight...ive blown out 2 of them now smile.gif
but i get good carryover...around 170lbs with knee wraps
Quote:
dunner...i will also add the wearing a 34 will not come easy the first time but it WILL go on
something like..
1st try-half way on
2nd- 3/4
3rd- on but too much pain to walk
4th- squat to a box with the straps down
5th- MIGHT be ready to give it a go
i think we are of similar size... im about 5'9 or 10" 195lbs and have pretty big legs for my size 25"ish

Comments:
-*** Went for 3 reps, failed second(miss groove), got 3rd rep
-My coach looked at the suit and said he thinks he could get his legs into that lol! he's like 109kgs, hell no!
-I wasn't getting depth with 65kg or 110kg, 155kg was almost there, maybe just on, 175kg I had depth on some reps, some not. Depth should be fine, it's harder to get there, but I shouldn't have a problem with it.
-Squats went pretty well in the new suit, still got 2 more sessions to learn the suit and break it in. The rep I failed, I missgrooved it and got into a position at the bottom with no power, so spotters helped me up, and I got the 3rd rep.
-My ass is sore, suit is hurting the glute attachment area near the tailbone, feels a bit bruised there lol
-The belt was tightening up the suit a fair bit, so I undid the lever and went better on my last 2 sets, I should be able to break the suit in over 2 weeks, and then be able to squat with a belt on in the meet.
2 more weeks of training. My coach will be interstate on meet day, but I'll have Tim there to coach me anyway, and he's pretty much my coach as he trains with me every session. 2 club lifters in the comp, I may have to wrap my own knees hah, I hope that goes well.
I'm on track to hit my goals of a 220kg squat, 135kg bench and 230kg deadlift in this meet. That's a 585kg total, a 45kg PR, and 15kg PR on each lift.
I should be able to improve upon that 10kgs in each lift in november, and get 230/145/241(record) for 616kg. But we'll see.
Haha, right on the tailbone it hurts, but since I'll squat more with this suit, I don't care I bet Frank would sacrifice his ass for 10kgs on the squat, that homo hahahahahhaha
Forgot to say, weighed myself this morning. 83.60kg/184lbs
Easy. I'll make weight no problems like last time, that's actually 100g lighter than i was lol.
