Lookit my cool shoes!
Well, after having JP move my old log here... guess it's really time to start a new one in honor of this forum. So, without further ado....
My new OL obsession is all Jill's fault! I love everything about it (thanks girl!). OK, except for the cost of the equipment. That pretty much sucks. Jim (my coach) strong-armed me into competing in the PWA championship a couple of weeks ago--I managed to get white lights on 3/6 lifts and totaled a whopping 82 kg (38 kg snatch/44 kg C&J), landing 2nd in my weight class--out of two.
Anywhoooo....
My goals--short term (next 4 months or so): 45 kg snatch (already have done 42, so should be fairly easily do-able), 55 kg C&J (have had a nagging wrist/hand injury that's limited me here. I think I'm capable of 50 kg right now). After that, the sky's the limit. I'm old, but I'm strong, so maybe I'll actually qualify for something more lofty in the next couple of years. I've only been doing this just short of 3 months now, so I've got all sorts of n00b gains to nab, right?
Training: 3 days/week. Whatever Jim tells me to do that week. Unfortunately, I only have access to "real" equipment on Saturday; weekdays I'm forced to use the ghetto 24 hr fitness. Blecch. I'll be outfitting my garage with the full enchilada when I move this summer.
Today's w/o--lots of form work going on right now. It's needed.
Snatch-->hang squat snatch-->Snatch 3x3x45,3x50,3x3x55
Power clean + 2 jerks 3x55,3x60,2x65,2x70,2x75,3x2x8 0
Snatch high pull 3x55,3x3x65
Jerk behind head 3x45,3x50,3x55,2x60,2x65,3x2x7 0
Front squat 5x65,4x85,3x95,3x2x105
75 minutes and a few lightheaded episodes later, done. Dieting and training this hard are a precarious combination, for sure.

Hang squat snatches are teh awesome and very hard. I've been known to fall on my ass with those. You must be some sort of legend at the ghetto gym with all your crazy moves. Do you ever wonder what they say about you?

I hate when people talk to me at the gym. There's this dude who won't stop talking to me while I'm working out. Earlier this week he was just yammering away about such bullshit. I tried not to be too rude, but I just gave him short answers and didn't linger to actually listen to what he said. So today he's all "so, should I just leave the area while you're working out. Do you need to workout alone?" I say to him "you don't need to leave the area, I just don't like people talking to me while I'm trying to lift." Not sure if he'll leave me alone now, but hopefully he'll bug me less. Next time I'll tell him he has to wait in his car while I workout and I'll let him know when he can come in the gym. Idiot.

Shoes... meh. (I'm a guy. And not Gabe.)
Nice lifting. You'll have me really confused if you start posting in both Kg and pounds and leave it to us to figure out which is which!

D'OH!
Heh.
Kg on the weekends only Bill... until I get my home set.
I'm going Eleiko or Werksan, too. No cheaping out. Luckily, hubby can build my platform so I'll save on one small aspect...

Really? What the hell were you squatting with then in your FS vid? Those were gayer than the crossfit 10lb (yes theyre lbs) bumpers

The ones in the squat vid are just regular plates. i don't know what brand, but they're steel/iron whatever plates. They're not bumpers.
in terms of olifts, I can use the werksan's, but they're a whole 5 feet further in the gym from the platform and the cheap plates, so i just use those.
i can use them in the next vid though
