Manny, you rock! I love how you've been breaking it down and posting the still shots. Very cool!

11 lbs, but I have less than 5kg to go I think. Can't say for sure since I am banned from the scale right now...
Hey Tracey!
Today: horrible shitty miserably bad workout. I feel like I'm coming down w something, stuffy, headachy, and sort of blecch.
C&J: 45x3,55x3,65x3x3,75x2,85x3x1
OK, so I could tell I was NOT using my arms at the lighter weights but then they came in again on the heavier sets. This is SO FUCKING FRUSTRATING SOMETIMES!!!
Garage gym is only slightly more than 2 months away... I need my own stuff.
S (BK, hang, BK) 45x2x3,55x3,60x3x3 way off on snatches today. Bad.
Snatch high pulls 75x3x3 meh
Drop snatch + OHS 45x2x2,50x3x2
30 crunches.
Buh bye.

Everyone goes through that 'fuck you OL' moment(s), thats when you know youre n=knee deep in this stuff
The lifts take faith and training is based around turning off the part of your brain thats saying 'wtf bitch, you wanna do what?'

You should post vids of some of your assistance stuff like pulls because if youre doing those incorrectly, then it just reinforces bad habits.

1. Ripped abz... meh
2. I'm going Werksan b/c they donate so much to the sport... I'll support them in return.
3. Will do on the taping. I have a feeling I'm all wrong sometimes on the assistance pulls, really.
Thanks Manny!

Pulls pissed me off for a long time because they were so divergent from the actual lift for me. When I went to snatch, my head was in a certain mode but when I went to pull it would be a completely different mental state. Once I could get them to be closer to each other, training got way better.

On your snatches your not reaching full extension in your second pull. I would venture a guess that your first pull is off. This is causing you to not get to the high block position with the bar.

Hey Ryan! Thanks for popping in!
Now, help a sister out... I've only been doing this since the beginning of January. What's the high block position, and how can I be sure that I reach full extension???
Manny, I don't know if I'm just not being aggressive enough, if I'm still trying to learn the right neuromuscular patterns, or what.... I'm still relatively new to all this and it seems like the way I'm positioning myself keeps changing (usually for the better) every couple of weeks, y'know? I do know that your advice about getting my chest up and my butt down helped quite a bit. I have a ginormous session tomorrow (Jim's at the Oly trials this weekend so it's just me n' the bar) and I'll try to work on this stuff.
When I get my garage set up... look out.

Its about mid-upper thigh for most people, depends on how long your arms are.
Getting full extension will take time, its something you have to feel and that youll know happens because the rep will feel easier than anything youve ever done. Best thing to do is some drills that activate the traps and keep working on your positions.

Thats it. Most of OL training is just about finding and reinforcing the right positions and then doing it until it becomes automatic regardless of weight. From there, then building strength can play a bigger role.

Today was a mixed bag.
Snatch 5x15kg, 3x20,3x25,2x30,1x32.5,3x1x35 Pretty smooth today.
C&J 3x15,3x25,3x2x30,2x35,1x40,Fx4 2.5,2x1x42.5 Failed on first set of 42.5, second set up on the left toe again, and third set felt right so stopped there. I was feeling a bit weak and woozy today again.
Clean high pulls 2x42.5,2x50 meh
Clean hang/paused explosive shrugs (whatever you call these, the things Manny does in his vid): 2x2x50
OK, cool thing on these--holy shit, I was exploding from the hang. It was great! My traps were actually doing the work.
Jerk balance +Jerk 2x20,2x30,2x35,3x2x40 felt much more vertical today on my dip. Cool.
Front squat 5x40,4x50,3x55,2x2x60 really, really tired. Left shoulder in the bony area got beat up with this; looks like I have a hickey there now.
Mil press 5x20,5x22.5,5x30
thanks for clarifying, Manny... and which drills do you think activate the traps most, other than what I've been doing?
Naptime!

Was yesterday your low cal day? I'm weakest on the day after those. Half a day isn't enough time to get my strength back.

Which ones are you talking about? I dont do high pulls...

Pulls/snatches/cleans from the high hang
Dead hang cleans or snatches
These are awesome for developing that trap activation. When you use your traps during a heavy pull, it feels like youre yanking the bar with your arms straight. You can also do those lifts in a rack if your back gets tired, just set the pins at the right height and rip it.
