No kidding!

OK, random weirdness. Saw one of my best friends in Michigan this weekend, and we were waxing poetic about the loser long-haired men we used to date... I trial-googled a few of them today and color me SHOCKED, I used to hang with a dude who apparently became the drummer for Godsmack from the mid-90s thru 2002. Last I had heard, he had moved to LA and had a little heroin problem... apparently he got over it.

Strange, huh?

It is very cool that you got together to train. How was the rest of your trip?

Isn't it weird finding out a piece of information like that about someone from your past.

Murphy's law was in full effect for the trip. I'm glad to be home.

Had a workout yesterday, and from what I remember--

Snatches only up to 70lbs
C&J up to 80--these were off
Clean high pulls up to 95
Back squat up to 3x2x165 then 10x115 to end it, which falls under the "cruel and unusual punishment" label

Will get to lift w Jim this weekend finally. Three weeks of no coach=suckage.

Today--focused on actually FINISHING the frikkin pull. Mixed results--some were definitely "on", others were off. Also, noticed that I now have slightly less time to drop and so my landings were not as patterned and in the groove.

C&J--worked up to 85 lb singles w 2 jerks.

Snatches: worked up to 70x2... one from below knee, one from the hang. These were very close to my body today, so better.

Snatch grip high pull 85x3

Snatch grip explosive shrug 85x3x3

Drop snatch + OHS worked up to 75 lbs x 2

Done.

I really can't wait to have the garage gym. I'm SO FRIKKIN' TIRED with this 3 AM shit.

That happens at first because the bar isnt traveling in as long of a loop, but over time if it happens correctly, youll find that you have enough time because you transfer so much energy that the bar flies up very nicely.

Another thing thats trippy is the feeling of moving around the bar. Its kinda like one of those matrix moments where the bar stays still and you move ridiculously fast. Afterwards, youre like 'woah.'

I'm waiting for that matrix moment, Manuel. I think it was close a few times today....

today was a great lifting day. In fact, Jim proclaimed it my best workout ever(!):

Snatches: worked up to 41 kg PR
C&J: worked up to 50 kg PR
Clean DL w shrug up to 80 kg x 2
Jerk balance + jerk worked up to 40 kg x2
Front squat up to 60 kgx3x3
Drop snatch + 2 OHS up to 27.5 kg

Really excellent workout today. Interesting thing (to me) that I noticed today--I think I may spend TOO much time with warming up and thus pooping out before I get to the working sets. Jim had me start the C&Js at 35 kg and go up from there in 5kg jumps... 2.5 then even less at the end. Seemed to work better.

Congrats on the PRs - must feel good after the frustration of previous workouts.

yea you have to play around with warmup times. I use to warm up a lot, but have recently cut down and saw improvments

Dude, you're a young'un. Us old bags need more warm up...

So, only one workout for me in the next two weeks--Leigh's orders. I'm walking a fuckofalot to try and compensate--oh, and I have to stretch--really work it--every day. Today's mood is surprisingly cheerful despite it all.
