Awww... wrong city. If it was in Melbourne I'd definitely come and watch!

Mmmhmmm. Placate the old broad with hypotheticals. I see how you are.

Totally psyched. Can't believe it's here almost. I wish I had a couple more months just to really spiffy it all up but oh well. Old Geezer world games 2013 I'll be completely ready. haha!
ETA: oh yeah, I lifted today.
Snatch to 47.5, some better than others. Got kinda tired.
It occurs to me, looking at your avatar, that going for good lifts when on your own in the gym is one thing. When you have to do it in front of a lot of other people who are focusing on you, that's quite another. Keep up the great work.

OK, I'm home, I'm in one piece. Here's the dilly-o: got to Australia on Thursday morning, trained a couple of days leading up to the meet on Sunday (training was going really well, had high hopes), then... had the meet.
International meets are not the same. At ALL. I wasn't expecting the bar to not rotate at all, so I missed my first 45sn. Made the 2nd attempt at 47kg, then flubbed on 50kg cuz I didn't drop.
CJs: first 55kg no problem. Well, it crashed on me, but whatever, still a good lift. Then there was a building evacuation after that... sat outside in the cold for about 45 mins, got 10 mins to rewarm up, and missed my 58 and 59kg attempts. Total: 102kg and silver. Stronger bitches all around me. Very humbling as well as inspiring.
Directly after the meet, I started to develop some rt sided back pain and subsequently a severe kidney infection that didn't respond to the antibiotics I got in Australia. I finally stopped spiking ridiculously high fevers today, four days after IV antibiotics and a switch to a different oral antibiotic. I have never been that sick for that long--it scared the shit out of me.
Tourism, therefore, was slightly curtailed--but I can vouch for yummy Indian and N African food, as well as the foulness of kangaroo and Asian food in Australia. The ferries are cool, the harbor areas were pretty, and the trains ran (on time). Nice place. Better to visit with a more favorable exchange rate though for SURE.
The people were awesome. It was good times despite my feebleness. Next world games are in Torino in 2013. Hellz yeah.
It sure makes for a memorable experience huh Tina? Big props for getting out there and competing.

The bar didn't spin? What's up with that? You sure it didn't just spin in the opposite direction due to being Down Undah and all?
Hope you feel better soon.
This made me think of that Simpsons episode when they go to Australia and have the "American Toilet" that reverses the water drain as to not upset the Americans
Hang snatches: bar x 5, 20x4, 25x3, 30x2, 25x3
Jerk balances 25x2, 30x2, 35x2x2
Cleans 35x3, 35x3, 37x2x2
That's it. Pretty wimpy. Need to squat, but after the steroid injection in my knee and being so damned sick, I'm not ready to do anything remotely heavy at this point. The good news is I switched back to the adidas shoes and with the orthotics my ankles and feet seem to be in a much better position. *fingers crossed*
