Awesome workout Tina. I really need to find a gym that has the equipment for O lifting.

Thanks, kids.

Today:
Ghetto gym extraordinaire, so all wts are in lbs

Snatch(BK)/Snatch(hang)/Snatch 45x3,50x3,55x3,65x3x3

Power clean + 1 jerk 55x3,65x3,75x3,80x2x3

Snatch high pulls 80x3x2

Jerk balance 45x3,55x3,65x3

Jerks 75x3,80x2,90x2x2

Back squats 110x5,135x4,155x3,175x2x2 (+5)

Considering I'm working on low calories again, I'm pretty happy with that 5# increase! Could have DEFINITELY done 180 for at least a single. Hubby's in town this upcoming week so I'll have him do some taping of my shattering of the 180 goal.

And PS, I hate power cleans. I really have a hard time not involving my arms at all but the very lightest weights. Grrrr....

Those squats are shooting up pretty fast. Good job. You might have a body weight squat soon!

Way to go with that 'zesty' workout! I'm in So Cal and would love a gym like yours but not to be had locally. I do believe Alwyn's gym is about an hour south of me. Anyhoo enjoying reading your workouts and someday I wanna grow up and be like you!

I like jerk balances. Its one of the movements that I plan on recording because its very useful for learning how to drop during the jerk.

I LOVE these but today jerks were off for some reason...

Hang squat snatch 45x3,55x3,60x3,65x2x3 EASY today. Ridiculously so.

Hang cleans + 1 jerk: 45x3,55x3,65x2x3,75x2,80x3x1

Jerks behind head 45x3,65x3,75x2,85x3x2

OH squat 45x3,55x3,65x2,75x2x3 (+5)

Tired today. Left shoulder a little painful today, too. Oh well.

Really pooped out during my snatches, although they started out strong. Worked up to 32.5 kg but was falling all over the damned place.

C&J: worked up to 42.5kg

Jerk balances--not feeling 'em today. Only worked up to 35kg

Jerks: 42.5 kg

FS: 67.5 PR, dumped the 70kg attempt. I guess considering the fact that this is a diet week, I should be happy with +2.5 kg, huh?

Shitty day though.

Werd.

On both lifts, youre still pulling with your arms and youre still not shifting your weight far enough back (this happens more on the snatch than the clean). I feel like pushing you right before you lift

Your butt needs to come up a little higher on your clean because your shoulders are just in line with the bar rather than over it. Keep arching so you can maintain the chest position (which looks good).

Jerks look good, drop lower by bending your back leg more.

So, I'm getting there then?

I guess I'm really having a hard time not letting my arms play. How do I correct it? With ridiculously light weight, I can suppress the urge. It's actually not even a conscious thing with the heavier weights but I notice it!

Today:

Snatch/hang snatch/snatch 45x3,55x3,60x3,65x3x3

Clean/hang clean/clean + 1 jerk 45x3,55x3,65x2x3,75x2,85x3x1
(no hangs on the singles)

Snatch grip high pull 85x3,90x2x2

Jerk balance 45x3,65x3,75x3

Jerks 75x2,85x2,90x2x2,95x1
(pressed out)

Back squats 115x5,135x4,160x3, 180x2,x1

Up next: 190 soon to fall. These are ATG of course... 200 is in my sights as well.

I like rack work for this issue, forces you to explode with enough weight to mimic your lift but without the 'oh shit' mentality that makes you use your arms.

Set the boxes or pins above the knee and do a pull+shrug as if youre going to clean or snatch it. The emphasis is on exploding upward. You dont a huge range of motion for this movement so mid-thigh height should be fine.

Another thing that would help are paused pulls that youve seen in my vids. Just pull to a certain height like mid shin-then complete the pull. Again, since youre not cleaning it, you can relax and just let your arms hang. Both of these exercises require you to be on your heels which would also be good at getting you to sit back. The bar should not be popping away from you in either of these movements.
