Massage was painful this time. I have knots on my knots! However, things are calming down now, so hopefully will all ebb back to the normal state of being soon.

Working out tonight. Yay!

Yikes on the front squats. I GM out at around 43k on those - you rock 'em!

What is the diff between a power snatch and a regular snatch?

OK, now I have that stupid cheesy C&C Music dance song in my head.... "I've got the power!"
Oy vey.

Power snatch: catch at a higher position, basically drop only as much as you need to to catch it. Forces you to stay over the bar and pull higher.

Regular snatch: drop it like it's hot and catch at bottom, typically.

Currently we're working on getting me to not rush my pull and to catch at the apex without riding the bar down--I am often guilty of both of these.

Thank you for explaining. Maybe I'm doing power snatches without even realizing, cuz I don't (can't) drop low yet to catch them (since I can't OH squat the weight of the bar yet, I'd die if I caught it low!).

But pulling is a major weakness for me now. I can do a clean pull and snatch pull with decent form and get the shrug part in, but as soon as the bar has to go higher, I lose the shrug part and... it's a mess!

Yeah, this shit is uber frustrating Bytsi... but when it goes well, it makes all the mistakes and aggravation completely worth it.

Yesterday will be one of those days that I'll look back on eventually and say it was worth it, presumably.

Snatchy warmups--the usual.

Snatch off blocks: 3x25,3x30,3x35,2x37,1x39, Fx39, 2x35, 1x39
--So, the lighter ones were loosey goosey and muy bueno. The latter ones not so much. I tend to revert to bad habits (like using my back) as the weight gets heavier rather than just staying chilled out and loose and pulling/dropping. So, that's going to be addressed in a slightly different manner with my kg increases at the next w/o.

Halting cleans 3x25,3x30,3x35,2x40,2x45,1x47, effed up 47x1 oh well.
--Elbows were all jacked up and stopping before they should and ugh. Not pretty. Also got really incredibly pissed off which completely mucks with any semblance of smoothness I possess. So overall a big fat MEH.

Power jerk behind head 3x35,2x42,1x48,3x45,2x52,1x57
--Got it but wasn't pretty on the last one--pressed it out at the end, so although it was a PR on these it sucked so not acknowledging that with any splashes of red. Sadly, these were probably the best part of my workout other than a couple really good snatches.

So, the immediate goal is to chill my ass out. I'm turning off the RAWR!1!11!!!! music on Saturday and putting on something much more groovy to see if it makes a difference in my pulling. Somehow I gotta shut off the adrenaline surges I seem to succumb to. I'm just so excitable.

Hey there. I'll be anxious to hear if the change in tunes helps. I am pretty excitable depending on the music, too and I know I look like an idiot, often.

Ginger, I think it did help, slightly.

Yesterday's WO: did snatches from blocks to 37 kg, lots of singles. Workin' it out. Clean pull to knee + clean went to 42? I think. Can't remember, don't have my book handy. Jerks behind head only to 50kg x 2, one a pressout.

Today's WO: snatches were abysmal, tried to fix but I wasn't dropping, I was cutting my pull... it was ugly and so I just bagged them.

BS 3x55, 3x65, 2x72, 2x76 (these were rough, some hip action going on there on the last set)

Scap rows 6x41, 6x43 (+2.5)

OHS 3x25,3x30,2x35, 2x40,2x45, 2x50 (+2.5)

Done. I really am thinking I'm still tired from yesterday. Tuesday will be better.

Hi Tina. My son went to the dermatologist today. I thought about you.

Off course, he also sliced something off his face unexpectedly so if you ever meet him he might start crying and trembling uncontrollably. Something tells me that has happened to you before though

Most kids sort of hate me as their default. I have to expend a lot of energy to reverse that.... but oh yeah, cutting stuff off kids? No fun!

Hey, a workout yesterday:

Snatchy warmups, the usual: SG shrugs, scarecrows, DHS, SB

Power snatch 3x25, 2x30, 1x32, 1x33, 1x34, 1x35, 1x36(F), 2x1x36 these weren't nice. I was not fully extending therefore a big fat MEH.

Jerk balances: 2x25, 2x30, 2x35, 2x2x40, 2x42 (+10) these are getting better. My leg is finally dropping more than shoving me forward.

SG pulls to knee (hold 3 secs): 3x45, 3x50, 3x55, 2x3x60 (+2). I used my back on some but not as much. Back a little sore today as a result--in a "wow, beeyotch, you worked me" sort of way, not in a bad sense.

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaat's it.

I think it was the big needle that they used to deaden the area that got him the most. He described it like this evil villain was trying to stab his eye and through his own guile was it only managed to stick above his eye brow.

It was funny. Funny to me. Not the slicee.

This morning: way too early. Normal stretching and snatch warmups. Did all to no sounds at all this morning, which was slightly eerie.

DHS + sn off blocks 4*2+1 @20kg I really don't seem to be able to do more than one decent DHS at a time, here. Did a lot from the hang too, just wimpy weights as above.

SG push jerks 3x25,3x30,3x35,3x40, 2x45, 2x50, 1x52, 1x53 (+8)

Ran out of time, so that's it.

props on the red.

The other day I did a workout with my headphones in a realized at the end that I'd stopped it to talk to someone and never turned it back on. It was a good workout, so...

Couple of workouts which are basically in diametric opposition as far as how I perceived them...

Saturday

DHS + snatch from knee (2+1): bar, 4x20

Power cleans 25, 3x35

Rack jerks 2x20, 2x25, 2x30, 2x35,2x40,45xF aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I bailed. Horrible attitude yesterday, I could not calm the hell down and it was a poor showing on my part.

After getting a reality check, today's workout:

DHC + hang cleans (2+1) bar, 20, 25x2 I won't say I didn't do extra from the hang however, I was trying to correct the fact that I was bumping the bar with my pelvis on the latter ones, which is pretty damned uncomfortable at higher weights.

sn off blocks: 3x25, 3x30, 3x33, 3x35 minor victory: I got a little frazzled on the last set, stood up, regrouped, and pressed on. Yay me!

split press to front: 5x25, 5x30, 5x32 (+2) second set was a bit too straight on the bag leg methinks, but we'll see.

Back squat: 2x45, 2x55, 2x65, 2x70, 1x75, 1x80. Ass to grass. My prior best with shitty form was 82.5, so I'm within spitting distance of that with the right form. That, incidentally, is +4 from the last best w decent form, but didn't hit full depth on that. So, gooooooooooo me!

Anyway, was better outlook, way better workout. Who'dathunkit?
