Just stopping by to sub and say how amazing your lifting is and how inspiring it is to me.
I think I got most of the log read, so carry on - keep up the ass kicking!
Oh and when I was 15 I started counting calories, avoiding any and all fat, and running thousands of miles a week. So I agree - I wish I would have known then what I know now, too
Ah ... if I knew then what I know now ...
All I can do at this point is to try to teach my kids ...
And keep pushing the envelope ... 40 is the new 20 you know!!
Youth is totally wasted on the young. Little bastards.

Me, too. Jim's not too speedy with getting vids out... so it might be, oh, another year or two. LOL.

My mom almost gave me up for adoption to a couple that would've dressed me that way. I bet my name would've been Buffy, too. The horror! I'll take my blue collar vulgar upbringing any day of the week.

Well hi Bree, and welcome! Thanks for popping in. Haha when I was 15... I was the antijock. That's all I need to say about that.
Heyyyyyyyyyyyyy a workout!
I've been sick this week with some damned virus, so didn't feel up to lifting til today. Kept it light.
2FS+2J: to 37kg.
2FS+1J: only to 40kg. Better on jerks today overall, but piddling weight
Paused snatch pulls to knee 5x4 @35,40,45,48,50 most of these were solid.
That's it. Not too much. Jim's tomorrow and I'll probably keep it on the light side there as well so that I can recover and hit it hard next week.
I'll take my blue collar vulgar upbringing any day of the week.
me too!! I went to Duke on scholarship for undergrad. just imagine me at my height, around 120 lbs, long ass 80's hair that I would sleep in pink foam curlers at night on wet hair to make the big ringlets. short short dolphin running shorts, tank tops, mall bangs. big can of aquanet. liberal use of the words fixin' ta and y'all. roomed in a triple freshman year with kim, from a newport rhode island sailing family, and lila, a preppie from litchfield connecticut. I could totally write a screenplay about that year. there were so many hysterical moments. I finally found some normal people at duke. one of them is still close to me, she is an ENT surgeon about an hour away from me, we are doing the gate river run together in a few weeks. I tutored her in organic chem, she hated it. I worried about her and the whole med school thing. she ended up being AOA and getting one of the most competitive ENT residencies, lol. and our very anxious friend adam who totally didn't have a social life, and abhorred all things science, is a very successful opthalmologist in the same area. I am sure my roomates from freshman year would shit themselves to know that I am responsible for educating other young physicians to be. I make sure to teach them a little ghetto along with the DSM 4-TR.
I say nothing seasons like a little salt of the earthiness, myself.
Jim's today, still recovering so took it very easy:
Snatches only up to 35kg
CJs only up to 45kg
Did some CG high pulls (don't kill me, Manuel) just to appease Jim up to 57.5kg
Stopped there, nixed squatting just cuz I really didn't feel up to it.
I hear you on the impatience thing. that happened to me bigtime in rowing. I wanted to beat the girls who had been rowing since high school!!! umm. no. oh well, good thing we are all pursuing our passions now. runners have these really cool age adjusted calculations so you can see what your time would have been if you were at the prime running age. fun times!
Actually in lime green bermuda shorts and a pink polo. Yes. It ain't nearly as purty though.
Hey, another workout! And it went fairly well. YAY.
Clean warm ups: the usual (shrugs, scarecrows, hang cleans, DHC, etc)
Cleans off blocks: 3x25, 3x30,2x35,1x40,3x35,2x40,1x45, 1x47,1x49 most of these were good, a hop and some slowish drops on a couple but overall passably good.
Drop snatch + OHS: 2+1*25,2x2+1*30,2x1+1*32 not feeling these today. Had a couple reasonably decent ones, but nothing to write home about.
Paused FS: 2x45,2x50,2x2x55
Scap rows 8x30,8x35,8x36 (+1 woot lol)
I don't like these, I will never like these, but they are helping since my scaps are moving and my upper back strength has increased considerably since starting these. It's like taking cod liver oil via spoon... you know it's good for you but nonetheless... yuck.
Chiro sez my ankles and hips are mooooooooooooving. Finally. All this Graston punishment and ART is paying dividends. Now, if only my knees didn't sound like a bowl of pop rocks....
Jerk balances--kept 'em light, still trying to find my sweet spot 4x2x30
Front squats 2x50, 2x60, 2x65, 2x66, 1x67 crapped out here. Oh well.
Rows 3x6x45... I think pr for rep range but whatever. I still hate 'em.
That's it. Off to be immersed in dermworld in downtown SF. Gotta love when the annual hyooooooge conference occurs essentially in one's backyard. Tonight: dinner with Merz, who last year had chocolate fountains as part of the decor. Too bad I can't dip my face into one of those.
chocolate fountains!!! only to be surpassed by free chocolate fountains. I would suspect the kind of chocolate fountains that would be at derm conferences would be somehow pore reducing or exfoliating. I say go ahead and dip the face. better to ask forgiveness than permission as far as I am concerned.
