Oh hellz no. Too friggin hot, and too many teenagers in tow. We'll stick to the inner rim methinks.

So, yesterday I hurt my hamstring at the knee by stretching. Sad. Felt numb all the way down the posterior thigh and into my calf (helllooooo sciatic nerve). Today's workout was very careful:

Snatch (below knee/hang/below knee) 3x3x45, 3x3x55

C&J (below knee/hang/below knee) 3x3x65,3x3x75

Snatch high pull 3x3x75

Jerk 2x2x65,2x75,3x2x85

Drop snatch + 2 OH squat: 45,50,3x55

Done. Hamstring felt better by end, now all phunky and tight again. Age sucks.

This is true. It would be worse than the .25 mile I hiked into the canyon in May one year many moons ago. It was frigging hot.

Hey Bytsi, thanks! It's feeling better, just slightly stiff when I start below the knee on my pulls.

Paula, I am soooo gonna wilt. I'm not designed for 110 degrees and brutal sun--I might have one or two functioning melanocytes, total. I am chez whitey northern snowflower!

Today:

Same as Monday, a little heavier:

Snatch (below knee/hang/BK): 3x45,3x50,3x55,2x3x60

C&J (BK/hang/BK): 3x60,3x65,3x70,3x75,2x3x80,2x8 5

Snatch grip high pull 3x3x80

Jerk 2x65,2x70,2x75,2x2x85,2x90

Drop snatch + 2 OH squat: 3x50,3x55,2x3x60,3x65

Done!

No OL stuff in the grand canyon I'm betting... so no lifting until I get back, I guess. Sent in the $$ for the meet which is now only 2.5 weeks away.

You and me both Tina. Bob just doesn't get that if I'm out in the sun too long I burn. He just gets brown.

The sizzling sound doesn't tip him off?

(or am I the only one that audibly burns )

Thanks for keeping my log warm...and I know you're joking, dorks, but BK=below knee.

Home and lifted today--nothing special. Snatches up to 70 lb (whoop di do), C&J to 80, Clean DL + shrug to 135 for doubles, front squats only to 125x3, Jerk balances + jerk only up to 75lb, and drop snatches + 2 OH squats only up to 55 today. Very off balance and feeling wimpy. My left inner knee is still friggin tight and sore from whatever the hell I did to it by stretching--better but as I sit here it's slightly throbbing.

But--here's the good stuff today, courtesy of the Grand Canyon--the first pic shows the trail we hiked down, the second is just a nice view. I've got about 300 of these and I'll post the best ones as I go. If you've never been--holy crap! I feel very small and inconsequential after seeing it. It's so enormous, you can't even comprehend what you're seeing.

Ross and I are going to hike from the N to the S Rim--it's a 14 mile hike down from the N, and about a 7 mile hike out. Let me tell you, it is HOT down there, too. The day we hiked down to the first rest stop (hey, we had 4 kids with us.. 3 miles total was plenty!), it was 1.5 miles length with a 2200 ft elevation change. Add that to the 120 degrees in the sun (thank goodness it rained the day of the longer hike) and you can see why 50 people a year die hiking.

Beautiful pics Tina. I remember being blown away by the grand canyon. Even fabulous pics don't capture what it feels like to be there in person.

Congrats on your new place!
