Oh hellz no. Too friggin hot, and too many teenagers in tow. We'll stick to the inner rim methinks.
So, yesterday I hurt my hamstring at the knee by stretching. Sad. Felt numb all the way down the posterior thigh and into my calf (helllooooo sciatic nerve). Today's workout was very careful:
This is true. It would be worse than the .25 mile I hiked into the canyon in May one year many moons ago. It was frigging hot.

Hey Bytsi, thanks! It's feeling better, just slightly stiff when I start below the knee on my pulls.
Paula, I am soooo gonna wilt. I'm not designed for 110 degrees and brutal sun--I might have one or two functioning melanocytes, total. I am chez whitey northern snowflower!
You and me both Tina. Bob just doesn't get that if I'm out in the sun too long I burn. He just gets brown.

Thanks for keeping my log warm...and I know you're joking, dorks, but BK=below knee.
Home and lifted today--nothing special. Snatches up to 70 lb (whoop di do), C&J to 80, Clean DL + shrug to 135 for doubles, front squats only to 125x3, Jerk balances + jerk only up to 75lb, and drop snatches + 2 OH squats only up to 55 today. Very off balance and feeling wimpy. My left inner knee is still friggin tight and sore from whatever the hell I did to it by stretching--better but as I sit here it's slightly throbbing.
But--here's the good stuff today, courtesy of the Grand Canyon--the first pic shows the trail we hiked down, the second is just a nice view. I've got about 300 of these and I'll post the best ones as I go. If you've never been--holy crap! I feel very small and inconsequential after seeing it. It's so enormous, you can't even comprehend what you're seeing.
Ross and I are going to hike from the N to the S Rim--it's a 14 mile hike down from the N, and about a 7 mile hike out. Let me tell you, it is HOT down there, too. The day we hiked down to the first rest stop (hey, we had 4 kids with us.. 3 miles total was plenty!), it was 1.5 miles length with a 2200 ft elevation change. Add that to the 120 degrees in the sun (thank goodness it rained the day of the longer hike) and you can see why 50 people a year die hiking.
Tee hee I don't audibly burn, but I'm pretty darn close.

Great pictures of the Grand Canyon. I hope the moving went well!

Snatch (BK/hang/BK): 3x45,3x50,3x55,2x3x60,3x65 easy! I swung out on the last set at the end but definitely think I was getting a lot closer on all the others.
Holy crap ... three hulking teenage boys!! That would be one pretty penny grocery bill!!! Mine is $175-200 per week with two little ones ... I can't imagine with 6 adults eating!!

Very cool pictures, now that I finally remembered to look from home where i am free from the stupid corporate firewall. I really need to make it to the grand canyon some day.

It cost significantly more for food than lodging. Somewhat shockingly more...

Movers come a week from Monday. I've been lugging boxes daily; should be down to just furniture by the time the truck pulls up.
Gym will go in at the end of the month.
[quote=marthand99;582693]Awesome pictures! Glad you had a good trip!
It was a great trip, Marty! I even ate a couple of bites of pizza... that shit is mmm, mmm, good--even though it was obviously straight outta the freezer. Yum!

You absolutely have to, Paul. It's indescribable.
WOOOOOOOOOOORKOUT!
Snatches: up to 39 kg, a little rough today for some reason. Couldn't get 40kg on the first attempt and Jim nixed it.
C&J: 52kg baby! +2 kg PR
Clean grip DL + shrug: up to 80 kg.
FS: Up to 67.5 kg for 2. Jim was feeling extra sadistic today, and I then got to go to 60x3 and 50x5. THAT was rough.
Drop snatch + 2 OHS: up to 30kg. Piece of cake.
Really good workout. I am interested to see how much stronger I'll be when I'm not in a constant caloric deficit... also, once I get the killer garage gym I'm going to a 4 day/week plan which will give me a little less volume/workout.
