I'm feeling much better today. I wouldn't say I'm 100%, but feeling close. Depending on how I feel in the morning, I think I'm going to go ahead and do the meet. What's the worst that could happen right?

On the CTS front, went to the PT/Rolfer yesterday and he continued doing soft tissue work on the neck, chest, shoulder area. This is making a HYUGE difference in my ability to stay asleep all night. Much less buzzing in my arms. I really hope this trend continues.

If I do the meet, will post results and vids. Just hoping to not do worse than my last meet.

Thanks guys!

The meet was okay. Felt only so-so this morning but decided to go and treat it as a workout. Ever since my stomach flu I've been having trouble eating as nothing sits well with me. I forced down food Thursday and Friday and really tried to get my strength back. Oh, didn't try to make weight for this meet either and I weighed in at a whopping 54kg (after breakfast and coffee so I could have probably made it after all )

Videos will be posted in a bit.
Results...

Snatch - 43, 44F, 44

C&J - 54, 55, 56F

Total = 99 (+3kg from my last meet)

My second snatch has a press out which sucks because it felt easy. The 56kg clean was good, but I didn't bend my back leg on the jerk and so it was a no-go. In fact, all my jerks pretty much sucked today. Post meet I totally crashed. Started feeling all naseaous and shaky. Felt like I needed to lay down on the ride home and totally fell asleep. Felling better now. Can't wait 'til the next meet!

Watching the snatches, it looks like you're using your hips more to generate power - am I totally off base?

Nice post-flu lifting! Way to get back in there. Pretty good increase from the last time.

Not bad considering that you weren't feeling well. Hoping that you're resting a little after the meet though.

Good job, Jill! Glad you got some rest afterwards, too.

(Now when I watch a comp video, I chant "go mommy, go mommy, go!" Can't help myself. And I love hearing Harry get all excited and start clapping. Adorable!)

Thanks guys! Yes, my boy is my biggest cheerleader. At one point you could hear him slurping on a slurpee in the video.

Had a light workout today. My stomach is still bothering me and I'm not feeling all that great. It's weird, I'll be fine and then I won't. Not much of an appetite at all. Hoping it goes away soon.

Warmup - stuff

Front Squats - 2x20kg, 2x30kg, 2x40kg, 6x2x50kg

Push Press behind head - 3x3x40kg

NG OH DB Press - 3x5x30#

Reverse Hyper - 3x10xBW+10#

Dragon Flags - Oh Yeah! 3x5 (okay, some of these were sorta cheats where my butt came down first and then legs...but lots were real ones).

Front Squats - 2x20kg, 2x30kg, 2x40kg, 6x3x50kg

You did awesome on the meet.. I really loved looking at you
Also.. can only dream of the weights you're snatching + C&J-ing.

Question for you: so I've been to a training of my female Oly-friend. Her (very patient) trainer claims I can squat ATF perfectly well provided my heels are raised a bit more again. Heel is currently 3.5 cm & the rules allow for up to 5cm , so his advice was to go up by 1 or even 1.5cm.
Won't that make me topple over?

thanks Espi! Regarding your question, not really sure. I suppose you can try a higher heel. I believe Tina was discussing heel height in her log as she wears a shoe that has a higher than average heel. If I were you, I would work on ankle mobility and such so that you can squat all the way down in the shoes you already own.

Not easy to undo a life-time of cycling (and even some walking) on your toes.. when I say achilles tendons are tight, that's totally an underestimation.. on the upside: fortunately hamstrings are looser than anyone else's I've ever met.
The Oly shoes are already a lot better than the trainers I'd had before, but still not ... good enough.
Will check out Tina's log & see if she has trouble tipping over forwards or not.

Thanks ladies. Still not feeling 100%, but getting there. Trained today.

Warmups

C&J - 3x1x20kg, 1x25kg, 1x30kg, 1x35kg, 4x1x40kg, 1x42.5kg, 2x1x45kg, 1x47.5kg

Rack Jerks - 2x45kg, 2x47.5kg, 3x50kg, 2x40kg

Front Squats - 6x2x50kg

Reverse Hypers - 3x10xBW+10#

Stopped increasing weight on the C&Js when my jerk technique started to break down. This is where I need to concentrate if I am going to improve my numbers. Once the weight gets heavy, I start stiff-legging the jerks and that's not good.

Trained with my coach today . Fairly light workout since we really concentrated on some for-related stuff in both snatches and jerks. Definitely feel like I am making some progress. Was pretty wiped out by the end as I'm still not 100% recovered from that crud I had last week.

Snatch - 3x1x20kg, 1x25kg, 2x1x27kg, 1x30kg, 1x32kg, 3x1x33kg, 9x1x35kg, 2x1x37kg, 1x1x38kg, 2x1x40kg

C&J - 2x25kg, 1x30kg, 1x32kg, 2x1x35kg, 3x1x37kg, 5x1x40kg, 2x1x45kg

done. will squat and do some other stuff tomorrow.
