Great Danes always make me laugh. They are so big and gangly. A friend has one and he's awesome.
Trained today. Wasn't a great workout. I bruised my legs last week doing cleans and today I kept hitting the bruises and I finally had to bail on them. I think I'll wait a week before I try them again so I'm fully healed.
Trying to see patterns in other people's Oly lifts.. I'm trying to find out what the optimal approach is to get to a decent high wt for snatches (or any lift) and see you do 20 sets total.
Also : you are doing 6 singles @ 35kg before pushing on to 42.5kg (that's 7 more singles).
Why? Were you planning to only go as far as 35 kg or is that a weight you feel comfortable at practicing with..
One of the reasons I asked for Oly lifting 'plans' is to not have to find out the workset weights for myself but use a plan devised by others that has been proven to work.. this is sooooo different from bb or even PL exercises where results are so much more predictable.
There must be a greyhound rescue society around here, because there are greyhounds all over place. They seem very nice and they don't look like they shed much.
I understand that they are FAST and you need to make sure you don't let them off the leash unless you know they won't get out.

Trained today. It's weird. I wasn't feeling all that great when I was driving to the gym and I expected a lackluster workout. But, it was good. You just never know.
I HAD that 45kg snatch and just lost it. Getting closer. Took a smaller stepup from 43.5 to 44.5 and I got that but just couldn't do the 45. The front squats are also PRs. I've finally been hitting PRs again after nothing for a looooong time.

You really shouldn't overthink it. I don't count total reps. When I do snatches I start from the bar and work up to about 75-80% of max which is around 35kg for me. It's a weight that is easy for me to do w/good technique yet heavy enough. I do about 5-6 singles at that weight - sometimes more - and then move up to my max in small increments. It's not scientific in any way. If I miss one I sometimes do it again or sometimes I don't. Sometimes I do one a few times if I feel technique isn't good. Sometimes I stop at a lower weight if I am really slowing down or technique falls apart. It really depends on the day. I train differently when I'm with my coach vs. on my own.
Thanks for the explanation.. your 80% is my current 1RM .
So, if that's the case. Start with the bar and then work up to about somewhere between 25 and 30kg (not sure what are the smallest sized plates you have) and do several singles there. Something like 5-10 singles so you can really get into a good groove. Once you feel good and warmed up, increase the weight by 1 or so kg for each single until you reach your 1RM. So you workout would look something like this...
If you miss any along the way, do it again until you've got it and then move up. If you continue to miss, move down. This is why it's different every day.
Thanks.. I've found out that taking too large steps towards a higher weight is not good and I need some more reps at a lower weight and then when coming closer to the top wt use 1kg steps. Your method of doing several singles at a weight you're comfortable with (80% of 1RM) sounds great.. and this weight of 27.5kg is actually where I can no longer do a technical snatch & switch to a power snatch.
Sounds like this would be a good weight to practice with

Yep, keep it at 27.5kg. You shouldn't be power snatching. Catch it at the bottom of the squat. Don't go any higher if you can't snatch the weight, just keep it where it is and practice technique. You'll get better the more you practice.
Okay, haven't posted a practice vid in a while. Here's this morning's training. I did some front squats and then snatches. These squats are PR weights so technique is a little wobbly on the last two. Can't accuse me of not going all the way down though.
your form is flawless (to my untrained eye). Looking very quick today!

I can't look critically, but each lifting video of you looks better and smoother.
Thanks guys. My technique is far from flawless, but it's improving all the time. At least through all this CTS stuff I have been able to do lighter technique practice and that has really helped as I am now moving towards heavier weights.
Today I trained again. Did some rack jerks and some squats.
Hi Leigh. Thanks for stopping by. We mainly talk about my CTS (carpal tunnel syndrome), shoes, kids and such in here. Sometimes we even talk about workouts!!!

And every so often Jill puts up a video of her bad self rocking the oly lifts.
