Sorry to hear about the CPT. As you've already noted, it's definitely treatable. I've known a couple of people who have ended up with surgery for it (although I hope you don't need to go that far).
Just so you know, your nerve problems got me thinking and I'm going to have my office ergonomics checked to make sure everything is set up appropriately.

Sounds like you have a bit of a similar problem like me. someone else also said it might be TOS (thoracic outlet syndrome) but I do recall to have had a neurologist look at this several years ago, when tingling arms were a recurrent problem as well (end of 2006) and he said it was CTS.
Yet, the problem seems to come more from the shoulder area than either the wrists or the thoracic outlet.
BTW, the problem started as soon as I learnt the Olympic lifts and got worse once the pulls were added, especially with pulls on blocks that kinda hammered the neck real bad.
I'd not go the route of surgery but seek out both ART as well as trigger point therapy. Bought the book by Clair Davies a while ago and am seeing someone who specializes in these . It's diminished now I pay attention to the various trigger points in the neck & shoulder region.
Considering the continued lifting and also the bad habit of raising shoulders too much in a cramped position (driving & typing) it's not something that will go away anytime soon, so continuous attention will be needed.. surgery won't solve anything I guess. This very topic has been discussed in the Triggerpoint handbook as well = surgery not being a good solution.
So I got my MRI today. Shit, nobody tells you how friggin' loud that thing is! Like a jackhammer next to your ear. I have all the images on a CD but I don't know what they mean. Will have to wait until my appt. next week to find out the results.
Trained today. Not a great workout. For some reason the MRI really tired me out. Plus its HOT today. First warm day of the year really.
Jerk Balance from behind head - 2x2x20kg, 2x2x30kg, 3x2x40kg
Cleans - 3x1x35kg, 4x1x40kg
Speed Front Squats - 2x30kg, 2x40kg, 2x2x50kg, 2x2x55kg
Done. Not a great workout... but a workout all the same. The weather is just spectacular here. Looking forward to hanging by the pool this weekend.
When my son had a brain MRI at age 7, he spent the next few months pounding on the low register on our piano, explaining "it's an MRI"... they ARE loud!

Hope the results are good...
LOLZ...i was thinking more jackhammer next to my ear but pounding on a piano is close.
They didn't offer you the noise canceling headphones? I got them for all three of mine and it helped a LOT. Still loudish, but more like a low hum, rather than a full roar, and I actually almost fell asleep.

Well, they gave me the headphones and asked me what type of music I wanted and all...but they never turned them on. So at least I had the headphones over my ears. It was an extremely boring 20 minutes.

I trained today with my coach. I wore some new rehband wrist wraps that seem to work well for me. They are really flexy so they feel much better when I do snatches. I slept a little better the past two nights too...not great, but better. Lots less waking up.
Done. Not zippy today. I have so much damn work to do. I'm on vacation next week and I really don't want to have to work. Not looking good so far. I have an appointment with the Sports Med / Ortho tomorrow to see the results of my MRI and such. I'll report back.
Looking forward to what the doc says ... email me too in case I don't have time to get on here ... glad the wraps are helping ... are you stretching at all?

Just checking in to see if you're back from the doc yet...
Yeah, i'm still confused. I hate the fact that you always get a biased answer to everything. An Ortho has one viewpoing, a chiro another, a PT another, etc. None of them really agree. So, basically I have CPT, but I also have issues with my C-spine. C5-C6 issues are making my CPT worse (double crush). There are three paths of possible treatment for the CPT: physical therapy, cortisone injections, surgery. I chose physical therapy (big suprise). I asked to be referred to my rolfer who is also a PT. I went for a full assesment today with one of the PTs. She thinks my problems are originating from the c spine more than from CPT. I have some brisk reflexes ... which worry me. I have my first PT appt tomorrow. I have a friend who is a radiologist who will read my films again for another opinion. I may have to see a neurologist. It's all very overwhelming and confusing. Either everything is cool and PT will get me all fixed up in a few weeks...or I have MS or a brain tumor.
No training today. I was thinking of doing something tomorrow, but my schedule is pretty jam packed. Leaving for vacay Saturday. Looks like I may take a couple weeks off heavy lifting due to vacay and some work-related travel. Probably a good thing.
That's all for now. I need some shoes and kittah to cheer me up!!!
And these are cute ... but I could never imagine spending nearly $1200 on a single pair of shoes (especially since I could probably not walk in them!!) ...
