I hate when that happens. It always seems to be on a day that you've got a lot to do as well. Looks like you had a good workout though.
It turned out to be an okay workout. But yeah, when you wake up at 4:30 it's like it's too late to really fall back asleep because I'd already had about 6.5 hours...so you just lie there and finally just get up. NOT good.

I am in the same camp as you Jill, with the carnies. Can't help it. But, I am giggling over the idea of Jane as a child wondering through the carnie area.

Finally a good training session today! I had a week's worth of meh and it finally all came together today for some reason. I love days like this! Trained w/my coach.
Can't get to my shoo pics right now, but I'm wearing my blue sequin chucks at the airport here in KC if that helps... hope someone else steps up and posts so you don't have to skip any further workouts while you wait for lolz and shooz!
So at Julie's urging, I'm going to see a doctor today about a persistant problem I'm having with my right arm/shoulder. Early last month my arm started falling asleep at night and I would wake up with it really hurting. It hasn't gone away and I'm staring to worry. It feels okay during the day and I can train, but my quality of sleep is getting worse and worse so I think something is definitely wrong. Was lucky to get into a good Sports Medicine/Orthopedic Surgeon this morning so WISH ME LUCK!!! I expect some shooz and lolz upon my return.
Thanks guys! Well, nothing conclusive yet, but I have an EMG scheduled for tomorrow and an MRI on Thursday. Could be a couple different things, but they need to rule some stuff out. I have a sneaking suspiciion it's TOS (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome) - but it's me just diagnosing via google. But I hear that it's not easy to diagnose and it's more of a diagnosis via ruling other things out. I can still train as long as nothing hurts...so that's good. I also have a silly wrist brace for my right arm to wear when I sleep in case i'm bending my wrist and cutting blood flow that way. Getting a massage this afternoon because I need one... I'm really tired. At least I know why I'm getting crappy sleep lately though.
So, before I started weightlifting, I was a daily ashtanga yoga practitioner for several years. Yoga was a huge part of my life and it meant a lot to me. For many reasons, I stopped daily practice. However, it left its mark on me and it will always be a part of who I am. The father of ashtanga yoga, the person I though of as my teacher (aka guru), died today. He was 93 year old and an amazing man. I met him on more than one occasion. He had a long and productive life, but it makes me sad to hear of his passing. Thanks Guruji...for everything. You were always smiling and always wise.
Got my EMG today. What a weird experience, getting all wired up and having my nerves and muscles activated and zapped. The doctor told me I have Carpal Tunnel in both hands. The right side is moderate/severe and the left moderate. I get an MRI of my c-spine on Thursday to see if my neck is contributing to the problem. The EMG doc told me this is good because CTS is much more treatable that Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. More to come later this week.
Didn't get a chance to train today due to hecticness. I'll head to the gym tomorrow and post my workout then. Luckily I can still train! Now if I can get some sleep....

look into ART. I know it didn't work before, but it's supposed to be a good treatment for CTS, so look for a different provider.

Yes, absolutely. I have a good rolfer I go to so I'll go see him about it too. I want to make sure I find out WHY I have this and then figure out how to treat it. I'm going to avoid surgery at all costs.

well, you probably have it from anything that's repetitive (typing, repetitive manual labor stuff).

Dude I typed a dissertation for at UIUC had bad in both hands, srsly, and his therapy was terribly painful, but he's all good now. So there's certainly hope.

Yeah, probably all the computer work I do ... plus I would think OLing doesn't help. I'm pretty hopeful that I can get this fixed. I mostly feel fine duriing the day and the pain comes at night. Excruciating pain lately. I have one of those wrist wraps which I wore last night to bed and it seems to have helped. Only woke up twice. PROGRESS!
My friend with CTS wore the braces at night... I think she ended up with surgery anyway - but she's a dental hygienist, so TONS of small movements all day.
Sorry to hear about your teacher. He looks like a happy man.
My CPT is so much better, but I still feel it some days. After heavy pressing or a ton of grip work, especially. Or if I do a ton of blackberry typing.
I also have a bit of Ulnar Neuropathy, too. That's made worse by leaning/resting on elbows and clutching arms to the chest. I don't know which came first. Do I clutch my arms to my chest because my CPT makes things hurt? I was told to avoid the typical blackberry arm position, too. When you hold it tight to the chest as you type. That puts the ulnar nerve into a compromised position.
There are some specific massage therapies for CPT, but Bill H's forearm stretching helped me a ton. I don't know if yours is caused by swole forearms with bound up muscles, though. No room left for nerve impulses.
