Good luck at your meet!

Love da menz in here. I just recently watched Vicky Christina Barcelona and came to a few conclusions....
1) I must go to Barcelona
2) I still have a girly crush on Scarlett
3) yumm = Javier

I don't have a vid of the meet from yesterday since my cheering section / videographers stayed home. Probably not a bad thing since it wasn't the best of meets for me. I snatched 42 and clean & jerked 52 for a total of 94kg. Not horrible, but not great. Snatches were 41, 42, 43F and cleans were 53, 54F, 54F. I was just plain beat yesterday. I have been working tons of hours and traveling a lot. BUT, it was great to compete and see the other lifters in my region. One of the girls who trains with me snatched 54 and C&Jd 61 for a total of 115 which is an 11kg increase for her last meet (last month!). Oh, she's also 15. To be young again! One of my other teammates (guy) snached 122 and cleaned 146 for a total of 268kg. Pretty impressive.

Today I did a light training session. I'm off on yet another trip tomorrow so my next training session will be Thursday or Friday.

Oh...I have been SO EXHAUSTED lately. I swear I can't get enough sleep...yet, I keep waking up in the middle of the night or wake up too early in the morning. Last night after my meet I crawled into bed around 7:30pm and watched a movie and was zonked out at around 9. Stress is a mutha.

Sorry the meet wasn't great for you, but you still impress me! Sometimes I wish I'd started this stuff in hs - apparently I'm the only female in my gym who can't snatch at least the 20 kg bar - everyone else (female) is in hs... But better late than never!

Sleep - prolly asking the obvious, but did you cut out caffeine to try to sleep better?

I usually sleep great so it's definitely the streeeeeeeeesssss. I drink two cups of coffee in the morning and then pretty much stick to tea for the rest of the day (green or rooibos mostly). Oh, speaking of tea ... got some new teavana today with a gift card a friend sent to me. I am trying Pacific Sunrise rooibos, Cacao Mint black, Spice Nut Mate and a Sweet Cherry black. I'm testing out the pacific sunrise now .... delish.

Ooooh - I'm gonna need ratings, maybe on a 1-10 scale, so I can have a list of new flavors to try! I sampled a peach (can't remember if it was white or rooibos) at the store and it was NOM...

Sorry your meet didn't work out as well as planned, but you still got up there and competed.

Stress can definitely take it out of you. Have you tried ZMA and/or Melatonin to help with the sleep?

Hiya Jill. I've missed lots of beefcake in here. Is the sleep getting any better for you? I am a huge fan of melatonin, myself.

Hey it sucks the meet didn't go as well as you would have expected. Keep at it. My guess is that if you were relaxed in general you would have done much better. Just chalk it up to the need to have that damn job.

Get a good book and get into bed. It works like a charm for me.

Hey guys! Thanks for the beefcake and all. I'm taking the week off training and just trying to keep my head above water work-wise while trying to get better sleep. Planning to train with my coach on Saturday so we'll see how I feel by then.

Had a good workout with my coach today. Still working on some technique stuff that is messing with me a bit, but making some progress.

Snatches - singles up to 40kg. Did lots at 35kg and 37.5kg

C&J - singels to 45kg. I was tired by this time and decided to call it a day.

Tomorrow I squat.

So they are doing some renovations to the gym I usually workout at so I had to go to the local commercial gym this morning. Luckily it's non-oly day so my only complaint is that the equipment suuuuuuucks.

Front Squats - 1x65#, 1x85#, 1x105#, 1x115#, 1x125#, 3x1x135#, 1x140#

Behind-head Push Press - 3x45#, 3x65#, 3x85#, 2x3x90#

Chins - 2x5xBW, 1x4xBW

Static Lunges - 2x5x70#

Stretched and done. Decent workout today. Starting to feel better. Way less tired than I was last week so I'm hoping the time off helped.

Glad you're feeling less tired... tired sucks.

I'm sitting here trying to decide which gym to go to this morning - the one I'm most comfy at where all my friends are, or the Oly gym with better equipment... I SHOULD just go and do my workout at the better gym, but I'll probably end up in my comfort zone instead.

Yeah, we all have our comfort zones. Mine is the gym where the nice olympic equipment is, while the commercial gym just pisses me off. BUT, it's good to get outside the comfort zone every once in a while. Builds character and keeps you from getting too attached to your stuff, you know? Otherwise you end up with all these excuses as to why you can't have a good workout if you're away from your comfort and your stuff.

Forgot to log my workout yesterday. It's been so hard to get away from my huge pile of steamy work lately to get my training done.

Warmup - sots press, scarecrow, DH snatch, H snatch, etc

Snatch - 2x20kg, 2x1x25kg, 3x1x30kg, 5x1x35kg, 3x1x36kg, 2x1x37.5kg

Speed Squats - 2x40kg, 2x45kg, 2x2x50kg, 3x2x52.5kg

Snatch Pulls to Knee - 3x45kg, 3x47.5kg, 3x50kg

Done. Back to work.
