I had a pretty easy workout today. Mostly worked on strengthening my shoulders. When I do jerks I get some pain in the lower lats / subscap area. I'm not really sure where the weakness really is...and a lot of it has to do with bad technique...but I figured it couldn't hurt to do some extra shoulder strengthening stuff right? I'll also be working on jerk technique too of course.

Hmmm ... that's a weird place for shoulder pain ... are you still seeing the ART guy?

No, but when I was he worked on that area and didn't seem to detect any issues. I'm not sure if it's a tightness thing or a weakness thing. All I know is that it only hurts sometimes and if I warm up enough, the pain is less frequent. If my technique is on, it hurts even less frequently. It never hurts with the bar locked out.

I know! I can actually do about 30 or so if I don't weight them. I'm sort of in that in-between place right now where a 10# plate seems easy and I can't do a 25# plate...so I guess I need to hold a 10 and a 5 or maybe a 15# DB? I have done them w/chains too, but plates seem actually harder. Thoughts?

The farther away from your knees, the harder it is. So, you can hold a 10lbs plate behind your head to increase the difficulty, for instance.

Yeah, that's where I was holding the 10# plate.

Then hold a 25lb plate down on your chest or lower.

I said above that the 25# is too heavy so I was trying to decide alternatives. Maybe a DB, but plates are easier to hold.
