Glad the technique improvement is helping ... and happy belated Mother's Day!!
Travelling anywhere fun?
Got a new Teavana order today ... mostly tins and a mug ... what's your favorite blend? I'm really into MateVana and Rooibos Chai ... in the morning mostly. I like my Pistachio Apple Pie in the evening.
Nope, not going anywhere exciting this time. Just my usual at-least-monthly trip to FL.
As for the tea...I like the Dragon Pearl and Sencha green teas, the Six Summits Oolong, Marzipan Rose black tea, and the Pistachio Apple Pie. I haven't tried the Rooibos Chai yet. Add that to my list. Ooh, a little birdy sent me two kinds of white tea that she didn't like but that I love. Peach Luna and Snow Giesha.
FINALLY got to train today. It was a loooooooooooong week at work so I was really happy to be able to get together with the coach and other lifters and do some liftin'.
I rippped a damn callus open doing snatches. I usually share a platform/bar with another lifter. She was using chalk today and I'm just not used to using it and it rips my damn hands open. Grrr. This one is not too bad though. I was really happy about the 40kg PR for the snatch. It wasn't too bad. The 50kg C&J was not pretty though.
Tomorrow I plan on training again and may take some videos to post so I can get some luv from Manny. I'm feeling neglected over here.
Tina, it will be very cool to have you back in the D! Remember last time you were here you had a big PR with your deadlift and I introduced you to OLing. What can we do to top that this time? Rob a bank?
I will give more love to this journal if pictures of this event are posted.

I'll see what I can do Manny .
For now you'll have to settle for a new training video to dissect. Yes, I'm wearing shorts...but sadly not boyshorts. Maybe next time. Not a great workout, snatches were way off but C&Js actually felt decent (probably cuz I only worked up to 40kg). The dorky "boxing" teacher was working with a client and you can see then in the background during the sideview of my C&Js. It's funny, he's wearing a full chest pad while some 90-pound soccer mom is limp-wristedly punching him. The shit I have to put up with. One day I'm just gonna lose it and kick some ass.
Worked on snatches up to 35kg and clean & jerks up to 40kg. I threw in a couple 60kg front squats at the end just cuz.
So I still think you need lift your hips higher in the start because your shoulders are not over the bar and the bar is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out in front of you, esp when you try to extend. Look at how your start messes with the entire sequence
Start: arms are vertical rather than at an angle over the bar, shoulders arent over the bar:
First pull: arms are still only in line with the bar and the bar is so far out that I can almost see your calf. You cant see it in a still shot but from the floor the bar starts by moving away from you (it should be moving towards you) so this shifts your weight to your toes:
Heres your extension. Rather than driving with your legs, youre using them to shoot your hips forward and get close enough to the bar. This raises your heels instead of letting you drive with them so you dont transfer any energy into your traps:
This causes you to hit the bar and send it really out in far of you. The amount of shoulder work it takes to pull it back over your head is tremendous and one of the ways you compensate around this is by jumping forward:
Heres my extension and bar path. Notice that in the 2nd pic, the bar is over my thighs because its so close, and even when Im getting under it (3rd pic), the bar is still over my thighs. The bar is so close that sometimes it will raise my shirt and reveal my ript abz. We dont see any ript abz in your vids
So I hope you can see that the take home message here is to lift your hips in your start position. You dont have to think about all of the details beyond that because those will fix themselves a lot if you start better, Im just pointing them out to show you that its really throwing off your pull and does nothing for your shoulder. So shift your weight on your heels, lift your ass up until your shoulders are over the bar and your arms at angle way from the bar. You can see two stills from Tina where I showed this.
Im going to start another post for the CJ cuz this ones getting too long.

You're lookin' way l'il!!
Do you ever wonder what the soccer mom was thinking?
"There's this crazy tiny chick at my gym ... she throws these big weights all over the place ... and she wears socks like the Cat in the Hat!"
Can't wait to hear what Manny has to say ...
